| Cloth or not? |
|
| My 54 has some kind of non factory seat covers . Not all that nice. The first thing I do to that car is get the seats redone. I would like if there is anyone out there with some good 54 shots of the interior. I am going to try to get something done as close to factory as I can. I think it would be some type of two tone blue. the inner door panels are pale blue and dark blue on the tops of the door panels. And I'm not sure if its to be cloth or not. The ones on it now are not cloth. Here are a few shots of the interior.

| I think the best thing for you to do is buy a sales brochure for the 1954 Canadain Pontiacs. In the brochure in the specifications section it will say what type of material was used in each of the series of cars. I looked at a 1954 Chev Belair 4 dr sedan with 30,000 miles a couple of months ago and it was a two tone blue and was a beautiful pattern of cloth and vinyl. I know in 55 the Canadian Pontiacs and the Chev shared identical interiors in certain models even the Trim codes were the same so maybe they did the same thing earlier. Are you going to buy presewn covers or get some made locally? Al

| I have tried to find a brochure, none yet. But if your right which I think you are the two tone cloth and vinyl sounds like that would go good on the car. I goining to get GM of Canada to get me the build sheet using the vin# for that year of car and see whats on the list. Thanks. Presewn is what Im after for now.

| No, I did not take any pictures of the 54 Belair. The cloth part was sewn in a bunch of appx 5"x5" squares with the vinyl being plain. It is a gorgeous interior which I was surprised to see in a Chev. as it looked more upscale and belonged in a Buick or Olds. Next trip south I'll make sure to get pictures but it will be tough as the warehouse is full of cars and they are parked very tightly together. The car I was more interested in was a 1957 Laurentian 2 dr hardtop 6 cylinder auto with 60,000 miles. The owner just was not interested in selling anything. Al

| No, it is a private collection outside of Toronto. This person has about 40 cars all stored within 20 miles of his house in good soild dry buildings. Most of them are all low mile original cars but he has a lot of Model T's. He has a 1997 Chev Silverado regular cab short box with only 27 miles on it. The 54 Chev is an original paint car with about 30,000 miles. My brother has bought 19 cars from him over a 25 year span. None of his cars are ever advertised and you have to catch him in a certain mood to get him to sell anything. The last time we were there I was really interested in the 57 Laurentian but he didn't want to sell it. The only car he said he might sell was an original low mile black 51 chev 2 door sedan and he didn't know what he wanted for it. He definately does not need the money. Al

| I would try to get a hold of the "National Chevy Association". It is in St paul minnesota. They deal with 53/54 chevy cars Only. They have interior kits and seat covers for all the 53/54 models. They are good to deal with, and have every part imaginable for 53/53. Just dont say you have a canadian pontiac that is the same as a chevy(it will get those americans all confused) Your car being a canadian pontiac will have the same seat frames. I would just chose a chevy cloth seat pattern you like from them. Example: your car is like a 54 chevy 210, so go with the all cloth seats. Or you could step up to the belair cloth/vinyl. I had a 53 chevy 210. It was all cloth on the seats (sides, back and face). tri-tone blue. I will try and post some pics. __________________ Beaumontguru |

| Ater looking at your "fancy" door panels. I would suggest ordering the 1954 belair seat skins. In 2-tone dark blue. four door sedan. They should fit like a glove!
Let me know if you have trouble finding national chev.
I think i have an old catalog (probalbly 10 years old). I know they are still around, they always have a booth at Back to the 50's in Minneapolis.

| My 54 210 had cloth seats. I don't have a decent photo but it looks like my door panels were similar to your Pontiac's __________________ Todd Site Founder 1969 Pontiac Laurentian

| Man! Love the info so far...Thanks guys I didn't think that the seat pics that the covers would look like those. And the Belair you had was a Canadain model or US? The inner door panel looks like and exact match to mine in colour but not trim.

"fancy" lol..ok they made them pretty simple back then. Yet the Patfinder I have IS considered the Deluxe model. So Im not sure yet to go all cloth or vinyl. Something will catch me and it will be on the car hopefully by the start of summer. __________________

| All I have is a new brake pedal pad. Any use for it? It's still sealed in the envelope from which it was shipped in!
I sold the car before it arrived!

Do you still have the pedal pad. I do believe that the brake pad and clutch pad are the same. I need the clutch pad for sure. What do you want for it? __________________

| I believe if you contact Doug Pollock at SMS Auto Fabrics at 350 South Redwood St. in Canby, OR 97013, Phone: 503 263 3535 and website - www.smsautofabrics.com you will be able to purchase the correct material. These folks are very professional. They also fabricate and emboss door panels. They are expensive but thier quality is wonderful. Our club has toured the facility twice in the last tree years. Tell them the Puget Sound Pontiac Club recommended them. You can get samples from them for comparison or send them a sample. Check out the website. Thier mills are in Pennsylvania. Halfbreed |

| Sorry for not thanking you earlier for this post. These guys seem like they have more than what I need. NICE stuff, super high quality!
I have yet to insall anything in the interior. THis past summer it seems I've been putting all my effort into keeping the car running. She now sports new rad, water pump, fuel pump, coil, regulator, heater control valve, wiring, etc. Once all the things that will make it reliable I will turn my attention to the interior. Most likely over this next winter season.
