Wow, I can't believe Imran would consider selling it so soon, but then again, I think he has ultimately sold every project car he has ever built. He had a really nice 69 GTO convertible he restored that I should have bought several years ago, oh well, c'est la vie! His shop is full of projects, he has lots of new stuff to keep him busy.

Did the insurance come through on the surgery costs for the bow-wows Ray?
Not yet, that was $3,200 two weeks ago, also still waiting on the pay day from the HERO car appearance. Once these cheques land I'll be flush again and then we can head down to Kitchener for the NACA Hood! We can even stop for Tim's, my treat!

Yes I know, Imran is a friend of Astro Jet's so he's given him the skinny on the soon to be hottest car on the market.
Truth be known that price is probably a break even on that car given all of the NOS, reproduction and special SD parts he put into it PLUS 5 years time!!!
When the GTO club has it fall swap meet, I think I may just have to ask for a test drive! To tell you the truth, I have never ridden in an SD car, I wonder how hard they really pull compared to the RAIV and 455HO cars?

I had a bottomless Tims a month or so back when I reheated one in the microwave...it made the glue or wax or whatever holds them together fail and the bottom fell out scorching my nuts as I was driving down the road!.
So if the original Cars Magazine '73 SD Goat was built by Pontiac, wouldn't that make this Canadian one a replica of a one of one?.
And was there a Grand-Am SD built too, did anyone ever note either Vins...and I wonder what their Vin engine digits were?.

Those cars were engineering mules built by PMD. As is the practice today, cars like that are never made availble for sale to the public are eventually crushed, if they are not lucky enough to end up in the GM Historical Collection.

The engine code 5th digit would be an X, so if you ever find a 73 Pontiac A-Body with that code you had better be willing to lay down the cash and hook it up

Those engines were rated at 310 SAE NET HP so that is about the equivilent of 445 pre '72 SAE GROSS HP. If you have ever driven a 400+ HP A-Body then that is what it will be like I imagine.
When I saw that I nearly fell over...$60,000 ! Wow. Imran told me that he would never restore a '73 again, it was almost next to impossible to locate the parts plus the ridiculous cost involved.
I second what Imran is saying. These are very expensive cars to restore and to use NOS parts like the both of us did. We were probably bidding on a lot of the same auctions to come to think of it. I completed my car in April of 2008 after about 4 years of buying NOS parts off Ebay. That would put us both in the same time period. Hmm. I wonder if we were the only ones driving up the parts pricess. lol Mike
