Neat old garage near Petrolia, Ontario

Hi guys,

A new member asked me to photograph some old Dominion Royal Master tires for him, that were advertised on the local kijiji site.

Well, I contacted the seller and he gave me directions to his place. It's in a tiny little community called Oakdale, about 20 minutes from Petrolia. I asked for his address, and all he said was, take BentPath Line and look for the 1930's-themed garage. I wouldn't miss it.

Sure enough, this is what I came across. Cool eh ?

Here is some of the tires he has for sale. These are 40 year old Dominion Royal Masters. 15 in x 8.3, I think. They're like brand new. 90% tread, at least.

The garage is quite a little museum. Really neat. I want to go back sometime.
The owner tells me, he was recently profiled on Old autos TV.

Regards,

Scott (Landshark...)

Hi,

Not anymore.

He retired just last year. He was a one-mechanic shop, who mostly worked on big trucks.

If anyone knows of a '60 fullsize Chev, he's desperately looking for a good driver to tinker on.

It sure is a piece of history - does it have any potential as a memorabilia museum of some sort perhaps?

ive seen that place before and wanted to stop and take a peek but you just never know how people are sometimes. I really need to remember to bring my camera with me to work so when i see these places or cars i can throw them up here for everyone.

It's amazing what adventure is just around the next corner. Looks like he's been collecting stuff for years, must be a character. I only talked to him on the phone, had no idea he had all this . I knew he was a hoarder because of the Royal Masters, but not all this. I wonder what other Goodies lay behind these CLOSED DOORS.

That is soooooo cool! I love these kind of places!
Before I moved to PEI, I bought out a hardware store, located @ Queen & Lansdowne in Toronto, that was closed in the '70s ... you should see my collection of 50's, 60's, 70's fasteners, plumbing stuff, hardware sundries/displays, paint supplies, sandpaper etc. It probably cost me thousands to move it to PEI, but well worth it.

Love the GM of Canada Chevrolet Oldsmobile sign!!! It would be quite the place for photos of your ride with the shop in the background.
