hi guys. the front end of my 66 beaumont, sbc, no air cond, sits a little to close to the ground. i would like to lift it a couple of inches. just wondering if i should go with big block coil springs, or spacers? whatcha think? would the big block springs be too much of a lift? thx

big block springs bring it up quite a bit, I would not go more than that. How big of a hurry are you ? I will have a set of bb springs available

I have bbc coils in the front and air in the back of my 67. I have a 454 in there so the front sits where I want it. I've tried different spacers on different cars over the years and never liked them. The bbc coils could always be made to relax a little if needed, but probably not the best solution. Maybe new sbc coils would put her back where it should be?

thanks for the replies so quick, guys.elroy, i am no huge rush. let me know what you have. my email is lorne64@hotmail.com, and you are right turn2stone about the spacers. quicker fix, but not really what i want. i was wondering about new sbc coils with air cond. so far, i cant get an answer out of anyone about how high it would bring the front up. i just feel that this year of car looks a little better with the front slightly higher than stock. i dont want to throw my steering geometry out of whack.

Does you car have a Big Block in it??? If not buy new small block springs.
If it does go with BB ones. I put new bb springs in mine and I think it sits a bit to high so i'm gonna chop out half a coil one of these weekends.

Hey i think you can get heavy duty sbc coils that are at stock height from classic performance parts. If you look in the chevelle years from 64-72 you will find them there.

I used BB springs with a 1" drop for my BB car and it sits about 1" higher than what I want but they will settle after a year or so.
I would go with small block springs or it will sit very high on the front. Unless that is what you are trying to achieve.

I bought AC Delco replacement springs for my car and it raised it 2 - 3 inches from where it was sitting with the original wore out springs.

It'll raise it allright-just get ready for a rough ride! Then go for awheel alignment. Done it years ago.

No problem Kelly. I knew you were away from home and wasn't sure if you had time to do it or internet access.

I did the exact opposite to the rear of my red 65 sd rag and now it looks like a 1980's Trans Am. I will have to change it again. It's frustrating getting the right height for your ride. I wouldn't put in BB springs if you running a small block.

I put heavy duty with air in mine and I hate it. It sits too high and is too tight. I will be putting stock small block springs back in it this year. I would NEVER put BB springs in a SB car.

Thats too bad you had that experience
The yellow car I posted rode and handled much better with the BB springs
I did a 69 Nova in 1988 and it was the same... much better.... strange

I don't know Carl? I have always liked the look of the cars with the heavy duty springs but after I did it to my car I didn't like it. It feels like I have 1 ton truck springs up front. They will be coming out.
