Here's a thought. Now that I've lined up a fourth hubcap, do I have the right rim size? I've seen two 14 x 5 on the parts car front (rears are 14 x 6 or 7), and there are two 14 x 5 in the barn all sandblasted and ready for paint. That makes four 14 x 5. Is this a correct size, even, for a 62 Parisienne, or did they come with 14 x 6 ?
Will a tire like 215/75/14 fit nicely on a 14 x 5 or will it pinch the beads in too close. Hmmmm........these are the things that drive a man carzy....
1962 Pontiacs had unique wheels that needed to be up side down to mount the tires although other 5 on 4 3/4" wheels fit the car. The wheel in your picture looks not to be 1962 Pontiac but the ones in your shed might be.
Thanks
Randy

Will the 62 hubcaps fit on other rims? I may have to try a couple tomorrow. Never thought about that. My old 62 Starfires had really weird hubcaps that were held on with clips. Hopefully these are more like normal rims.

I changed a lot of those, and the upside down one were "usually" stn wagon rims with wider lip to outside
The rims sizes are also determined by the "location" of the measurement
A 14x5 rim (bead to bead) will measure 14x6 (edge to edge)
To get a correct rim width, you must measure from the bead seat (where the tire rests and seals on the inside of the rim). This tape measurement reads 9.0 inch
Wrong way
If you measure from the rim flange (the outermost edge of the rim), that is wrong.

You're right. I measured across, through the hole, and deducted approximate rim edge thickness to come up with 14 x 5, as well.
Do you think a 62 Parisienne hubcap will fit on this non-Parisienne rim, or do you need the correct rim for the correct hubcaps, like the 62 Starfires?
I'll find out later this morning, but my lack of knowledge here is really annoying. I've got to get smarter quickly.
Dave not only do you need to match up rim width's but also check the "offset" or backspace on ea. rim!!! after you get the tires off!!! All need to be the same on frt.s [pair] & paired up on rear!! If it were mine I'd put a set of Cragar S/S or Torque Thrust D's & "screw" the org. hub caps!!! Put some "pop" or "bling" in the ol girl!!!

yes for sure (or maybe not)

Looks like I got the skinny now. The hubcaps for 62 will whack onto the rims I have , but not stay. The ridge is about an inch in on the rims I have, and these hubcaps are meant for a ridge about half an inch in. I can put them on, but wouldn't be long before they went "ping" into the ditch.
I'll buy the fourth one so I have a set, and look for some other solution in the mean time. Don't want to buy too many parts cars just to get 62 Parisienne rims !!

May have temporarily solved my wheel and tire problem. Stopped by a friend's house this morning and bought a set of four S-10 wheels and tires for $40. They are 15 x 7 and 225/75/15 tires. Two are 40% tread with slow leaks and two are about 80% tread and no leaks. Not sure about the look, but I can use them to roll things around if they don't suit the Parisienne. My rims and tires always seem to disappear with the frames when (if) I sell them.

Maybe I can pretend those cut-outs are arrowheads, and spruce up the rims a bit with some silver or grey paint.
If I paint over the black, nobody will know they are S-10 wheels !! :)
They're only an inch and a half in diameter more than the 195 SR 14 that are on the parts car now. Somehow I thought they'd be a lot taller.

Hmmmm.........not sure about the new look. Grabbed a wheel with no trim ring or center cap to try on the feel. Maybe it'll grow on me. Might have to talk to Rumrunner about stock rims !! :)
try a 15 inch full wheel cover (Pontiac) on that rim painted black

I haven't given up on the stock rims and hubcaps yet. Just trying some different things as bargains come up.

Got another thought, oddly enough. Turns out my two rear rims are 14 x 6, not 14 x 7. Hadn't measured them and was just going by the front offset. Not too bright, but such is life. My hubcaps fit nicely on the 14 x 6 rims even though the deep depression is an inch over. Seems there is a slight depression, almost imperceptable, about a half inch in. My new guess is that the Parisienne with V8 engine came with 14 x 6 rims. Maybe the 6 cyl, or cheaper model cars had the 14 x 5 rims. I've got a book somewhere that has all the rim sizes from the sixties, but I can't find it right now.
I have two rims now, and will perhaps buy a set of four next week. At least I have a plan.....I think !!

By the time you quit buying all these extra rims you could have bought some "nice" Mags for the "ol girl"!!!!! That 1" 1/2 in dia. will throw your speedo calibration off & you'll have to change the gear inside the trans to get it to read right!!!

Many years ago I tried to put some 14 x 7 rally wheels on a 1964 Bel Air and the inside of the wheel hit the outer tie rod. Might be something to check when selecting wheels. I know what you mean by the older Oldsmobile hubcaps, I had a 1961 Olds 98 SS with the clip style hubcaps and it was missing a few clips so I had to remove the hubcaps whenever I drove it!! I wasn't able to find any clips back then or even anyone who ever heard of them.
Thanks
Randy

I hear ya, but so far I've only spent $40 on S-10 rims and tires. I can resell them if I don't use them for something. A local member has offered me a set of four rims 14 x 6 with old tires on them for $50. It seems they hold a 62 hubcap, so I'm not expecting to spend too much loot.
As for the calibration, I doubt I'll ever get to drive this car. Everyone that sees it seems to think they want it or someone they know will want it. I'm just playing right now. I'm draggin' ass (can I say that?) because it's easier to start a new project than finish the trunk floor on my 442. :)
Im looking for at least 2 spare steel rims for my '62 Parisienne also; if you get a heads up on where in the lower mainland; please let me know. Thanks!

Are you looking for 14 x 5 or 14 x 6 rims ?

All 1959-63 Chevrolet passenger cars and Canadian Pontiacs use the same rim. They are a 14X5 and yes tires must be mounted and dismounted with the rim upside down on the tire machine. I just did a few on the old Coats 510 a couple of weeks ago. The 14X6 rims were used on station wagon only. There are no such thing as 409 rims -just optional 14X6 when you got oversize tires-8.00x14 vs 7.50x14 on a 14x5 rim. SO any fullsize Chevy from 59-63 or Canadian Pontiac will have the correct rims for that car-aside from date codes but who cares. 64- I believe 68 rims are also 14x5 but tires are mounted and dismounted with the rim the right way up and the rim has kind of a "bead" where the hubcap snaps on instead of being "flat" there. Hope this helps.
