This has to be a no brainer for someone out in Airdrie.
Its not a hot rod or at least it never was ordered to be just a big luxury liner with a big block befitting the image and attitide of a top of the line Pontiac.
Would have loved to see this as anew car and hope it can be put back that way.

I think I've seen that car before, but better part of 20 years ago. If the owner "Vince" is who I think it is, I think he also had a big block wagon.

I think you are right. I went to Airdrie to look at 68 Parisienne and 67 GP wagons he had for sale. Couldn't find them however.

If I recall correctly the 68 wagon was tripoli turquoise with a 396, like this 4 dr ht.

Na, I think the 396 was a good choice for the original buyer. The 427s were thirsty with the added cubes and hotter cam. The 396 had nice torque, the premium-fuel mild 325-horse version was best suited for duty like this, and included all the drive-train upgrades like h.d trans & rear axle. A 1968 big block with factory a/c would only come with 3.07:1 rear gearing regardless of power or transmission. Without a/c that car would probably have come with a 2.73 or even a 2.56. A/C also means big alternator, battery, thermostatic h.d. fan, h.d. rad with shroud.
Those power locks weren't the best as they are vacuum operated. Gee, if you ran a hot cam you would lose your vacuum reserve for brakes, locks & headlights. And maybe the a/c damper doors.
Pretty well the only options they missed were disk brakes (68's were finicky), light monitoring, 8-track and some sort of wheel upgrade beyond the standard 14x6 wheels & wheel covers. They even went for nylon tires.
To restore that car would mean rebuilding a lot of systems. It would have been a really nice car when new, especially when most cars sold here were fairly basic.

Question for those in the know - why do the seats appear turquoise but the rest of the interior is black? I thought that it would either have had a black interior or a turquoise interior, not a mixture.

The seats are black, I owned this car about a decade ago sold it to the fellow in Airdrie. Was a good old dry car, sellers a good guy as well...

Ah thanks. They looked turquoise in the photos, must have been just how the light hit them. Ad is gone now so I can't post the pics. Somebody got a good buy.

Did Mr. Stevenson rush over with his cherry picker and rip the 396 out?

Agree. Tripoli Turquoise on black same as my 68 Impala.
Not surprised it sold quickly. Someone got a great deal on a desirable car, even if does have 4 doors.

You want pictures? I grabbed them before they disappeared because it has happened before.
It's the least I could do after George has posted hundreds if not thousands of pictures of interest to us car enthusiasts.
Thanks for posting the photo's. I remember seeing the car back in the early 2000's before it was sanded down. The car as shown was in primer, and the surface rust is from the primer attracting moisture.
