Central Alberta looking at temps where it doesn't matter if you're using F or C, overnight. My pal there is begging me to sponsor him for immigration to Palm Springs.
The Atlantic Ocean continues to keep things mild here on the east coast. Temps in NS are hovering at or just above freezing during the day and dipping below at night. The ground is bare currently with 2-4 cm predicted tonight, but that will not last as we'll be getting some rain later in the week.

-40 here in Lac la Biche this am with a wind chill of -50. So far so good but you better be ready fast with a plan B in this kind of stuff.
It amazes me to think we had +37 here this summer so we have had a range of almost 80 degrees celsius or 140 degrees fahrenheit.
Amazing engineering that stuff still works.

21:16 last night.. This morning on the radio, they said it is 18 degrees warmer inside a deepfreeze than it is outside here at the moment.
NOW THAT IS INSANE!

We dont have the ultra cold temps as some of our CP friends as it warmed up to -5 today but got another 6-8 inches snow yesterday, but at least wind died down a bit. Certainly a lot of winter for us here already and not even January!

That's Cold. And we are complaining of -11 at night and a high of -3 tonight. We also got snow last night, around 5 inches.
A day off tomorrow, well for snow anyway, then back at it on sat. Long range looks for more like this for the next week.
Come on spring.

Looks like we're in the Polar Express for a while yet.
+8 right now, would have been a great night in the falls but they have pulled the plug on Blue Rodeo playing tonite

Cold snap is coming to an end this week, fellas far as weather man says. But the next system is calling for warm temps and rain, with possible flooding due to heavy rain in the mountains, OH boy 2022 coming in with a new mess. Beautiful sunny winter day out there right now though. a little cool still -3.
Looks like a classic Nor'Easter for PEI and NS tomorrow. Firewood is in, water jugs and pails filled, generator ready to go. Truck ready to plow. Fridge full of snacks.
Winter storm warning in effect for:
Queens County P.E.I.
Hazardous winter conditions are expected.
Total snowfall: 20 to 40 cm.
Peak wind gusts: 90 km/h giving blowing snow.

Good thing for 4x4 as we got another 12 inches of white stuff last night. wet slippery heavy stuff.
Highway was a mess going into work, seem the plow guys could not keep up with Mother nature last night.
single lane in some spot on double lane highway. Hopefully mr plow comes by the house before spring, LOL.

North of London, Ontario, they are getting dumped on with a snow squall but I live in the sunny south
But Even in London City, you go from being dumped on to needing your shades.
It started snowing early this afternoon and hasn't stopped. Winds are picking up too and it's coming down heavy. We're even getting "thunder snow". Lights are starting to flicker...
The north shore guys may see some heavy storm surge as it's a high tide tonight.

"She's some windy!". Gusts on the island are at 101kmh. Check out on the Confederation Bridge (which is closed )
Strange how just a few hundred km can show such variances in the weather, Todd!
Halifax started as snow about 10am, got a dusting, then it turned to rain/snow mix, then rain. Wind picked up around 2pm and it snowed like heck for an hour or two (with "thunder snow"), then back to rain again. Went out to shovel around 7pm, temp up to +3... man was that snow heavy! The wind was down to almost zero with light rain showers. Now, after 11pm, winds have picked up again and it's snowing again, temps dropping.
Gotta love winter!

Man, that's a tough one. Sorry to hear that, Carl.
Thanks for the concern, but I'm careful. I approach it like any other workout, start slow, watch the heart rate and don't overdo it. Plus I take my time and just enjoy being outside.
For this heavy stuff like tonight, I just push it with the scoop. No lifting to speak of. This was like solid slush... one of the downsides of living near the coast is that we almost never have that light fluffy snow that is easy to move!
Now after all this, I've probably jinxed myself...

This guy was the manager of our local auto parts store for many years. He moved away likely 10 years ago but I dealt with him for likely 20-25 years so knew him very well. At my age (60+), and me being from a heart attack family it hits close to home.
Don't take chances...

Waiting for first light to see what snow I have ahead of me. I have no clue, because the windows are snow-covered and I'm not poking my head outside yet.
I saw a lightning flash last night, thought my Wife was playing with the lights.
Not a "flicker" here, and the satellite also stayed up and running.
All in all, by far not the worst wind ... the old house wasn't even "fluttering".

Well, it looks to be about a foot of snow in some places. Luckily, it should be light snow.
I'm still going to have fun moving it with a purple, swollen, broken finger, and -17 windchill. It's not really going to get warmer today.
Still no real signs of winter yet
