When I bought this car every piece of plastic and glass was broken. It was probably a car that shouldn't have been restored. I have had all the chrome replated, dash parts , hood strips, bumpers etc. I don't yet have any clips to hold the hood mouldings. Just about everything is being replaced on this vehicle. Started with a crate engine (Ram Jet 350), complete new suspension, disc brakes all around, new wiring harness, new steering column, putting in a GM 5 speed transmission. Although the body is not yet finished the interior is done bucket seats with a console. The interior fellow has put a raised indian head on the back side panels looks pretty cool. To finish the car off it has Foose rims. Other than the rims the car will look original on the outside but a complete new car under the skin. As far as tail lights go I was able to get one cracked lens and one fairly good lens. I later was able to get NOS lenses from the States.
The internet has been a great place to find pontiac specific parts. It is a good thing that it has taken about 4 years to obtain all the parts to help spread the costs out.
Very anxious to drive the car now. Photos of the car as I got it and one with the engine sitting in it.

Great job on a very rare sedan delivery. The hood clips were available from Ted Haykus " The Clip Man " but he has recently passed away. When I bought mine from him he told me he was supplying a company in Florida by the name of Florida Auto Fasteners with that type of clip. The clip name and number is Auveco no.2564 .
The box I recieved my clips in was from A&H Bolt and Nut Co Windsor/ London . This made me think the clips were probably made in Canada.
If I haven't already decoded your car please post the info from the data plate . I am interested in the numbers for reference and total numbers built.

The information that I have on this vehicle is that it was orignally Highland Green, with brown and beige interior ( I think they were all the same interior colour). The car came with a 261CID 145 HP 6 cylinder with manual transmission. Model #2271 - sedan delivery. Total number of vehicles produced was 1219 and this vehicle was #311 produced. The vehicle was produced Jan 24th, 1955 and was shipped Feb 08, 1955. The car spent a lot of its life in Manitoba.

Highland Green is paint code 554. When you get a chance to look at the data plate check and see if it is Trim Code 502. From what I have as information about the sedan deliveries they are supposed to have a 500 Code Black Vinyl interior. The interior you are describing Brown Vinyl/ Straw Textured Vinyl is what originally came in my 55Pathfinder 2 dr stationwagon. I am just curious to see if different interiores were available for the sedan delivery. I know the 2 dr wagons had two interiors available to them 502 and 524. Al

The trim code is 502. The sedan delivery I had back in the 60's also had the same colour interior.

Here's a 57 I found on an old CD of photos I had. It was in a folder dated 2003, and it looks like an ebay pic. I had completely forgotten about this one. Hope it was saved, but it looks well gone.

Correction on the info on my 55 Pontiac Sedan Delivery. I was relying on my so called memory and it ain't what it used to be. I dug out my paper from GM and you were right Taylor55. The trim code was 501 Brown & beige leatherette The interior colour is straw & brown and the exterior was 554 Highland green metallic. I will put a few photos of the car showing the firewall and interior. A few other photos on its evolution.
Thanks for the hot tip on the HAMB! I had a look around that site and found a few pics and evidence of at least three more survivors, one 56, a 57 and another 58!

The 56 delivery belongs to a friend of mine from Melville, Sk. The 57 delivery is mine and is in MooseJaw. The 58 delivery has been owned for years by a friend of mine in Victoria, BC. This pic brings makes 4 of the 58's I have seen. I parted out a 57 delivery in Chilliwack a few years back for parts for mine and a friend's 55. Wish I had got the tag off the body as that one was a factory V-8 car. Plans for mine are just a nice driver. I don't think I will even build this one off the frame. Been there and done that a couple of times with 55 chevs. Plans include some old American 5 spokes, 305-700R automatic and underdash air, which you really need in a delivery. The body will remain stock. Conversion back to original would be a breeze. I thought I would include some sedan delivery numbers from the 2nd edition of the standard catalogue of American light duty trucks by John A Gunnell. Canadian sedan deliveries were sold in Canada only from 1954-1958 by GMC dealers as trucks. Pat.

As requested, some more pics of my delivery. It is pretty solid with the exception of the passenger side roof area where the mice did a job of rotting out about 3 feet. I am currently looking for a better roof to replace it with. I just did a roof repair on a 55 wagon and would rather replace the whole roof before I go through that again. Pat.

I know of another 57 SD sitting in a cow pasture but its pretty well toast. Cows have been using it to rub against for decades and its rusty. I don't think there is a single savable part on it.

Just got the info on my Sedan Delivery from General Motors and the production numbers are different from what is noted in the chart. For the 55 Pontiac SD the total number produced was 1219 and for the 57 the total number produced was 857. I mentioned this chart and he said why would you question the manufacturer's documented numbers. There is still probably only a handful of them on the road at this time. I don't know of any way to find out actual numbers.
