Thanks for the comments. The car is really solid and should restore to a very high standard. The fuel system however...ugh! I got the tank off and took it in to Rice Radiator in Chatham where the car spends its time. They are recommending replacement as they say the epoxy liners aren't working with the higher alcohol content in fuel. Apparently it breaks down the liner and you end up with gunk in the tank. I have heard that Sunoco premium (and maybe a few others) don't add alcohol so the question is now: do I go with the liner and hope those fuel formulas don't change - or - get the Spectra tank recommended by cdnpont earlier in this chain.

Hmmm, $650 sounds like a *LOT* for a new tank - I could have gotten one for my 56 (same as 55 Chevy) for around $100 + shipping, but I took my original tank to my local radiator guy (I would rather spend money locally if I can) and he boiled it and coated it with some red stuff, he also said that those coatings do not stick and flake off and cause worse problems than you had before, I do not know what that red stuff is but next time I go by there I will stop and ask him. He even did the inside of the filler neck, you can barely see the red stuff in the picure below, total with tax was $132.50 US
That red stuff took several days to dry, and was sticky until it finally dried.

Went by his shop today and - closed up, out of business, another casualty of the poor economy ...

Welcome aboard Gord!.
Cool '69 and neat it's a Lockhart car!
I was born in Collingwood also spent summer holidays as a kid at my Grandparent's place through the 60's/70's including hanging around Lockhart's downtown location then later at their new place out by the hospital..
My Grandparents lived on 4'th Street, where'd yours live?.
If your family is longtime C'Wood folk, lay their name on me and I'll ask Mom as chances are probably good she knew them..

Any chance we can get a close up of the air cleaner decals for our engine nomenclature thread in the Library, assuming it says Astro Flash 350. If it is a Chevy decal and says Turbo Fire 350 then never mind. Hope it is a Pontiac decal, we do not have a 1969 350 2bbl in the thread. Also those GM service instruction on the side.

Hello all. Thanks for the info Davelacourse - too bad the local guy closed. I like to buy local as well, helps out the local business and I also think you get better service than dealing with someone over the phone. The family name Ghost Post is Prentice. Grandma had an old house on Ontario Street although I forget the corner it was right across from some Victorian era row houses and an old school. The family had been there for years (Grandpa sailed - mostly for Upper Lakes) but the house was sold in '74 and there hasn't been any family in the vicinity since. As to the decals - the engine is the original but its a Chevy 350, and the air cleaner stickers have both been replaced. There is a decal on the left inner fender - I forget just what it is - that one is original and I will take a picture of it the next time I'm in Chatham. Hopefully that will be of some use.

Gord, excuse my bad manners, I should have wished you welcome before now. So - welcome!
Really REALLY cool that you still have your Grandma's car, and in such excellent shape too! Hopefully you can pass it along to YOUR grandkid some day as a reminder of good times in hte past.
