All 1959-63 Chevrolet passenger cars and Canadian Pontiacs use the same rim. They are a 14X5 and yes tires must be mounted and dismounted with the rim upside down on the tire machine. I just did a few on the old Coats 510 a couple of weeks ago. The 14X6 rims were used on station wagon only. There are no such thing as 409 rims -just optional 14X6 when you got oversize tires-8.00x14 vs 7.50x14 on a 14x5 rim. SO any fullsize Chevy from 59-63 or Canadian Pontiac will have the correct rims for that car-aside from date codes but who cares. 64- I believe 68 rims are also 14x5 but tires are mounted and dismounted with the rim the right way up and the rim has kind of a "bead" where the hubcap snaps on instead of being "flat" there. Hope this helps.
That's a whole lotta info !! Useful info, though. I decided to use 14 x 6 on my 62 rag if I don't use the Astro Supremes I've got sitting here. I really think the beads are too close together for a firm ride on a 14 x 5 on these big rides. 62Paris is looking for two rims in the lower mainland. I have a spare pair of 14 x 5 rims that have been sandblasted, and now just need a light sanding to get the storage rust off them. He doesn't actually say what size he wants, and I hate to just speculate. Perhaps I'll send him a PM when I have more time.
Thanks for the spec info mr409, it is appreciated.

I traded a friend for a set of four really nice 205/75R14 tires for the Astro Supremes. Can't remember if they have white walls or not. Under the house they went, until I'm ready for them. I'm almost finished with chopping up the 62 Parisienne parts car. Then I'll be getting the 62 convert into the garage and start to see how various things look on it.

I've got the pair under the house. They were sandblasted for painting, and now they are surface rusting from sitting without paint. If you want one or two of them, I'd go $10 each. If you're interested and you live near Richmond, send me a PM with your e-mail address and I'll shoot you some pictures when I have a moment. They aren't the special style that have to be mounted upside down, I don't think.

Got a new plan. Decided I didn't want to clean all the rust off the Astro Supremes and find another center cap, etc. so I sold the set last night for $60 to a fellow that seemed to really like them. I'm going to go with four 6 inch rims with the offset about dead center on all of them. Four stock hubcaps, and I'll use the set of 205/75R14 tires I traded a laptop for last spring. I'll take the wire wheel to all the rims and paint them black. I think it'll look just fine for the time being. Besides, it helped me get rid of some inventory. I've been virtually drowning in 62 Parisienne parts, and I need to divest to some degree. It'll look like the rear wheel on my avatar, except without the orange rust around the edges.
