Does anyon know a spark plug upgrade to the old champions I have in the 283?  Just wondering if there is an NGK platinum style option out there

 Yep, correct. That's the hottest plug, good for putting around ... what I use. R43 is the coldest (and R44 middle), better for "racing around".

Congrats on the purchase!  From the pics you look like you have a really nice, clean, original survivor-type car.  They are getting harder to find these days.

As far as the number of doors, consider this: the 4-door pillarless hardtop is likely one of the most rare body types left out there now.  It is also a body type that will most likely never be offered by a carmaker again.  It's a very special car, actually.

Great lines on a 4 door hardtop.  Good score on a very elegant ride.  That drivetrain should last you your lifetime if it has been treated decently. The only mod I would do is to stick a pertronix conversion on the orginal distributor so you'll never have to mess with changing points again. I've got them on a couple of my cars and I just don't worry about the ignition system.

 Thanks for the compliment and the info the timing couldn't be better (pun intended)  I'm actually in the process of changing plugs wires distributor cap rotor etc and bought points but they were a 2part and I need a combo but now I think I want the pertronix option! What did it cost you to convert?
