Here is my Road Test Review of the Impala SS.
Very clean, solid and tight car, very heavy feel. A little cramped for me in the driver's position but the Goose thought it was oK. Extremely bare and boring interior ~ austere would be a better word, low quality materials used throughout, however good features such as heated seats, tilt, A/C, Drivers Info Centre. Harsh ride gives way to good handling. Strong LS4 V8 with great growl and rumble but certainly did not feel as fast as the Cadillac I drive every day BUT no slouch either. I could sense the VVT technology which makes the engine not as responsive as cars without that feature. There is just a little something you can feel that lets you know the computer is thinking about what to tell the engine to do. Not pulling out the cheque book yet even though the car is priced well, fully roadworthy and decent enough. The main issue is the benchmark going in is Cadillac and the Chevy just can't compare, that's the state of mind we'd have to change to make an offer. Its just a cheap low quality materials Chevy, no other way to describe it. Not saying we wont buy it but just not today.
Thanks Darcy for that good production data, good to know.

Buick Super owner reneged on offer to sell, just a typical time waster on Kijiji, he was looking for someone to value his car
so I did , with lowballs of $3900 to $5900.
I expected a lot more from the LS4 5.3 VVT V8. but we will see what comes along.

Well its not black and its not an Allure but it is a Buick and its in our driveway....
Northstar ~ LD8
The LD8 (VIN "Y") is a transverse V8 for front-wheel drive cars. Introduced in 1994, it is designed to provide more torque than the high-revving L37. The LD8 code had been used on all torque-tuned transverse Northstars, even as the exact engine specifications evolved. Compression ratio is 10.3:1 for engines built prior to model year 2000, and 10:1 for those built afterwards. The 1998 revision is quieter than previous Northstar engines, due to hydraulic engine mounts, and performs better due to a tuned intake system.
Most LD8 Northstars are rated at 275 HP @ 6000 rpm and 300 lb·ft @ 4000 rpm.
The LD8 V8 can be found in Cadillac Eldorado ESC, Seville SLS, Deville, DTS, Pontiac Bonneville GXP and as an option in Buick Lucerne CXL and standard on Buick Lucerne CXS.

Thanks fellas, This car is lady driven its whole life, first 8 years was registered to a woman who drove it 45,000 km then it got traded in at the selling dealer and a Mom of a boy I coached hockey had it for the past 3 years but she didn't use it much so it sat in her underground. When I knew it was for sale it was too good a car to pass up white paint and all
Its a 2006 Buick Lucerne CXS (in 2008 the model was renamed Super) The car is built on the same line as the Cadillac DTS 2006-2011 and since I have a DTS I can say that it is really a Cadillac with Buick badges ever so slightly less appointed than the Cadillac but lots of pieces are direct matches to my Cadillac. The car was purchased to be used by my son but I'm really considering giving him my DTS and keeping this for myself. Its running on winter wheels and tires right now but I have the Buick 18" Chrome wheels and summer tires too.

Nice! I had a neighbor who owned one when I was manager at the GM Dealer. I used to take it in for servicing for him. Very nice driving cars.

I've always maintained that Buicks drive better than Cadillacs and this one has not changed my mind.
I'm astounded at the reaction this car is getting, my neighbours and passer-bys all are amazed and say how much nicer a car it is than my Cadillac DTS. My insurance Broker had never even heard of the car so that must indicate that its pretty uncommon.
My DTS has the high revving L37 High Output Northstar but this one with the LD8 has more torque lower down and boy can you ever feel the difference driving around the city. A lot of folks ask me if its Supercharged 3800 and are freaked to find it has a Cadillac V8. I wasn't too fussy on the White pearl but it has grown on me fast, can't wait to get the big 18" chrome Buick wheels on it.
Ray - you sure do "Live up" to your surname...beautiful addition, to the White family.

Congratulations Ray, beautiful car. As you know I have a 2005 Bonneville GXP that my wife Pat drives. It is also pearl white with tan leather interior. I have never listened to the Northstar engine problems, as of last weekend it turned 300,000k, it is fun to drive and looks cool.

I have had 4 Northstars and love them. the last version was the 2005 to 2011 and virtually bulletproof. All the kinks had been worked out.
Remember it started life as a racing engine in Indy cars in the early 90's.
Who's The Goose (besides the cop in Mad Max)?
Goose is the ex in my family .....son.
Progress, received two photos from sellers, the Buick came via my WANTED ad in KIJIJI the SS was listed there. Going to see them this weekend.
Just sayin'............................

Got the pretty wheels on today....
I own this 2009 Buick Allure Super.
Only 139 Buick Lacrosse Supers (USA) Allure Supers ( Canada) combined were built in 2009.
Out of 139, only 16 were Buick Allure Super delivered new in Canada as GM of Canada documentation states.
Car is a performance car front to back top to bottom.
Car runs high 13.8 s at over 102 in 1/4 mile.
When I have to finally own a front wheel drive I think it could well be one of those. What a cool job Buick did on those cars!
