I'd like to think I could handle those low temps but I'm not sure I could.
I'm sure you would.. the dryness makes the difference. And if I went back to the Rock and it went down to -15, I know I would feel it.

Rained all day in Halifax, turned to freezing rain around suppertime and has continued all evening.
Power flickered several times, but never went out for me, though it was out briefly down the other end of my street. Shortly afterwards NS Power had 3 bucket trucks on my little street and they were up in the bucket correcting the problem - appeared to be something with a transformer. Lots of power outages in the province though - currently 663 active outages affecting 38,327 customers. Most appear to be in a line through the valley and down through the Halifax area, with a bunch up towards Cape Breton as well.
Had a startle as I was sitting at the table next to the big window to the deck. Heard a noise and looked out to see a shower of small pieces of ice falling on the deck, followed by a large branch, about 10 ft long coming down with a crash. Scared the beejeezus out of me I have to say. Can't tell if it did any damage but it doesn't look like it hit the rail and luckily missed the big window I was sitting next to. Landed square in the middle of the deck, but won't know if it damaged anything until I check it in the daylight. Oh well, that's for tomorrow - not going out there tonight in case another one decides to come down. Also lucky that I take the deck furniture in for the winter as it would have smashed the glass top table that's usually out there in the summer. Would have done more damage to the noggin though...
Other than that, so far so good. It was freaky when I was outside earlier - every time there was a breeze you could hear a shower of ice falling off the trees. Kinda surreal actually.
Hope everyone else is making out OK.

All snow here. Some drifting as seen by this 6:00 am today picture. The front door is off to the right, blocked. I'll be climbing out the side window of the house to do some shoveling later on.

We also saw it change to freezing rain around dark, got over 50mm as rain so glad it was freezing rain.
We got freezing rain and drizzle all night, still a light drizzle. My driveway is gravel and has such a thick coat, it is like glass to walk on. Thanks god my lot is flat. The ice is like rock, temp about -4, going to -14 tonight, so the ice wont be getting any softer. Other parts of NS had all freezing rain, they would have way worse ice than I have. Not much wind and power is fine so far. Lots without power all over NS.

I'd say we got a total of about 10cm of heavy sugar like snow. The only place it drifted was at my front door which is about 2 feet high (it would have been higher but I shovelled a 2 foot drift away from there yesterday).
There's word of another storm Tuesday...

It's hard to tell in the daylight as the deck surface (composite boards) has a thick covering of ice and snow on it, but I think it's OK. I was first alerted by a shower of ice pieces, which I noticed today were all pine needles with half an inch of ice built up around them, and then the branch came crashing down. I'm guessing the layer of ice plus the iced-up pine needles helped cushion the impact to the deck floor, so 90% sure there will be no damage visible when it all melts. If there is, it's not hard to replace boards on those floors anyhow, so all's good.
The branch sure was heavy with the coating of ice on it, though. I can see why it came down and am thankful I hadn't been standing under it!

9C here. I had my morning coffee on the back porch. We have dozens of Robins here this year (too expensive to fly south?). Really strange seeing them on the snow.

I don't remember a winter that was so cold for such a long stretch and especially one with so many storms back to back.
