We had 173mm on my rain gauge yesterday, under an alert for another 50-100 or more today. Highway 103 closed due to flooding from Chester to Mahone Bay, evacuations near Windsor due to risk of a dam failure, lots of roads everywhere closed due to flooding.

Out west we are having one of the driest summers on record. not sure when the last rain was here, nothing measurable since Fathers day.
Then it was only a quick down pour and it was gone. Setting records for most burnt land for this early in the forrest fire season.
People flying in from Brazil to help fight fires, we need rain BAD. Getting lots of car cruises in though.

On Mahone Bay yesterday, water temperature varied from 76-80f in depths of 20-75ft. Air temperature has been humidex in the 30s, today 37, tomorrow 34. Rain so far in July 322mm after 361mm in June, a normal month of rain would be 90-100mm, normal Mahone bay water should be in the 60s.
Tropical storms that become hurricanes in many cases usually start off the south west coast of Africa, then go east to Gulf of Mexico, Florida, etc. Late last year one formed in warm ocean waters off Bermuda, way out in the Atlantic. This year I just saw a small one form south of Newfoundland, east of Nova Scotia. Q

My daughter is visiting with the grandkids, they are going on the tidal bore run tomorrow, they run Rib boats in the tidal bore, 6-8 passengers in each boat. The high low tide spread tomorrow in the Bay of Fundy is about 42 ft. They invited me but I said no thanks, not into a 42 ft saltwater roller coaster, full of sand. I know, Im a wimp. It is in the mid 20s tomorrow, our humidex backed off a bit.
A little bit of rain yesterday and today, but with rain came thunder and lighting, crap load of more fires started, hopefully
the rain kinda helps with those. light Rain for the next few days. I guess my laundry outside is not gonna dry, LOL.

We had two days of sunshine. That seems to be our limit this summer. Heavy rains tomorrow and more rain Thursday. it looks like we may see more than two days of sunshine after this but I won't hold my breath.

2600 lighting strikes yesterday and last night. more than a dozen new fires here on Vancouver Island. Hopefully we get some more rain to help with the new fires and the old ones. Lots more on the interior of BC as well.

My rain gauge is close to 10 times normal rainfall for the months of June July August, 900mm. Raining now, forecast for this storm was 50-70mm. Havent been able to paint my deck- havent had a stretch of weather dry enough or cool enough, May was way too hot even though it was dry.

Same here. Booked a roofing job back in June that was due to be done by the end of July. Due to all the rain we've had, the roofer still hasn't been able to give me a firm date for the job, but hopefully coming up in the next few weeks.
Rainfall warning today, another 50 - 80mm of rain coming with the low that will be feeding moisture off of Hurricane Franklin, which thankfully is passing well south of us. They are forecasting a full five days of sun coming up, but I'll wait and see if it actually happens...

It's good except for all the humidity! I rolled my Hyundai winter car out of the garage and the cement floor was covered in mold! Had to give it a bleach bath.

We were about 400 miles south last weekend in Sioux Falls SD. It was 33* and the humidity was in the 95% area. Brutal.

Another storm to watch here in the Maritimes. Tropical storm Lee is expected to be a Cat 4 hurricane by the end of the weekend and may reach Cat 5 strength. Early models have it going right over Nova Scotia and PEI on the 15th.
Of course a lot can change between now and then.
