From 1965 to 1967 the serial number identification plate was attached to the left front body hinge pillar directly below the upper door hinge. From 1968 to 1971 it was attached to the top of the instrument panel on the driver's side and is visible through the windshield from outside the car.

Thanks Todd I will look into that. We have the original bill of sale and owners manual along with the Protecto Plate if I recall that was what it was called.

I had it their once a few weeks ago and it was a great night for us because we one a very nice Coleman Grill and then a bag of Popcorn but I gave that back and asked them to draw again for someone else to win.
We only live a few miles from Mapleview.

I know that the 72 GTO never came with a 350. So the 72 GTO's with an M or N in the 5th spot are fakes.Did they come with a 400 with the 2bbl??

Astro Jet will know for sure but I believe the last year for the 400 2bbl on GTO was 1968.

I ran into a 69 GTO, in Savona just outside of Kamloops years ago, It was owned by the drummer of 3 dog night, he broke down there on his way to California apparently. It was a detuned GTO with the 400 2BBL
