Finally, I find a site dedicated to the Canadian Pontiacs!
I'm particularly interested in the post 1953 sedan deliveries. I'm located in Australia, at least I was but based in Japan for a few years for work. Anyway, I had the chance to buy a 1957 Pontiac sedan delivery a few years back, but passed on it as I'd just bought a 57 Chevy delivery. I'm still kicking myself... But any delivery at all is rare in Aus. Before I saw it I didn't even know of the existence of the Pontiac deliveries after 53, as most of the books and magazines are of course US-centric.
Anyway, despite searching numerous times , I've been able to find precious little on these cars over the years, and even fewer photos. One very small photo of a really nice turquoise one, and a few better shots of a white one. A couple of photos of a yellow 55 (or was it a 56?), and the mention (though no photo) of a 58.
Does anyone on here have any photos or information they could share with a delivery addict?
By the way, I grew up with my dad's 68 Pontiac Parisienne, 327/210hp, so I'm no stranger to the small bodied Pontiacs!

Thr reason it is hard to find info on the Pontiac sedan deliveries is because of very low production numbers and the fact they were marketed by the GMC truck division and not the Pontiac car division. I have photocopies for the 1955 and 56 GMC sedan deliveries[SD] but have been unable to locate and purchase the actual original ones. There was one on Ebay a couple of years ago for the 55 and it sold for over $50.00 US when the Canadian $ was around .65 US. The brochures are illustrations only and not actual photographs. The 55 one is done with a blue SD and the 56 a red SD. Now with Todd having built this site maybe a few SD owners will hopefully join as the word spreads about this site at flea markets, car shows and cruise nights. Al

There was a really nice early 50's Pontiac Sedan Delivery at the Saturday night cruise - Canadian Tire - QEW and 427 area of Etobicoke. It had the hood ornament that lit up if that helps with the year. I want to call it a 53 or 54. Sorry no photo. If I go again I'll take my camera.
Also here's an ad dated June 13/08 for a '56 Poncho 2 Dr. Wagon in Toronto someone could build one from?.

Thanks for all those links guys. They are the sum total of all the post 53 SDs that I've been able to find in years of net searching. I was hoping a few of you might have some more pics hiding on your albums or on your disks that I could drool over.

Seeing you're in down under, have you come upon any real Firenza Can-Am cars w/ the factory 302?. They're my dream car also I'm hooked on a few other Aussie/S. African cars like the Holden Monaro/Chevy SS cars and a few others including the FORD Fairmont GT 4-Drs and the V8 Capri Peranas..
Seen any of the new Holden W427's yet?. They were released there a few months ago and although stiff priced at 150,000, a deadly unit!.

The Firenza Can Am 302 was a South African machine, and we nevevr saw them in Aus unfortunately. Closest we got was the Torana GTR XU1, which was fitted with a stove hot triple carbed 202ci Holden 6. It beat the 351 Falcons in the touring car championships. This evolved into the L34 SLR5000, and A9X, 5LT (308ci) holden V8 in a slightly larger body.
I had a HQ Holden Monaro GTS for a short while, with the 350 Chev motor. A powerful machine, size and weight about half way between the Nova and Chevelle.
I haven't seen any of the W427s. As noted, I'm based in Tokyo these days, and only get home for a few weeks a year. Was last there back in Feb.
I'll leave my other automotive passion out of this thread... I think rotary engine Mazdas might be stretching the frienship a little too far...

my uncle until a few years ago owned a robin egg blue 53 pontiac delivery that was the original delivery for gus browns in whitby,he bought it off them in the eighties,he had to sell some stuff fast ,and sold it real cheap,i missed it but got a 55 chev for a grand,i think the truck sold for 2500 or something like that and it was mint,would like to find out where it got to.

No Ghost, I didn't see that on Ebay, but I do seem to remember that same car on there a year or two back. I'd love to buy it, but it's not possible at the moment. Nice car indeed.

Hi Tokyo welcome to down under from up top. The pic of the white 57 sedan delivery is to the best of my knowledge is a Canadian pathfinder I've been told by a guy in Winnipeg who owns one they were only built in Canada and the US did not build any in 57 . The trim is definitely Canadien . The US cars all had full trim from front to back like the Pathfinder deluxe.

The marroon sedan delivery is a clone but a very nice one. The Sedan Deliveries were not made in the US in 55-57. The front clip is an Americian one by the length of the fenders and the angle of the front wheelwell. The body from the windshield back is the same as a 1955 Chev and 1955 Canadian Pontiac except for the dashboard. The dash is Pontiac, Americian and Canadian being the same except for an Americian Pontiac with Air Conditioning having the provisions for air outlets. The Chev s/d used a chev dash.
As stated in a previous post the the 55-57 Americian Pontiacs used an older design with king pins and the clutch and brake pedals coming up through the floor verses the Canadian Pontiacs pedals hung from above and ball joints.
The Canadian Pontiac S/ D and Convertibles are rare cars today because many of them have been transformed into Chevrolets especially the S/D as all you would need is a Chev front clip, dashboard with a wiring harness and rear tailights and a relatively easy conversion was done. 20-30 years ago the 55-57 Canadian Pontiacs were not a very collectible automobile as compared to the 55-57 Chev. When looking at a 55-57 chev always check the data plate and make sure the model number starts with 1 and not a 2 and the rivits have not been changed. The paint and interior codes were the same on Canadian built S/D and Convertibles Chev and Pontiac.
Quite a few years ago I looked at a 55 chev convertible in Toronto that had a body off ground up resto. The car was nearly perfect except the data plate was a 2067D instead of 1067D . I didn't want to start an argument so I asked the owner if he did the resto himself or bought the car restored. He had bought it restored. I did not tell him he had a converted car but I tried to find out who did the resto but he didn't know. There are definately cloned 55 chev convertibles and SD's out there that started life as Canadian Pontiacs. How many is a guess and the same goes for how many Acadians and Beaumonts were converted to Novas and Chevelles. Al

Of course you're right, Taylor. I didn't even notice until you pointed out that it's a clone, but now I see it also has the hinges for the tailgate. Sedan Deliveries of course have a one piece liftgate, no hinges at the bottom. I guess I was too excited that I'd found another!

Easy for the 55-6, but I think most wouldn't have bothered on the delivery for 57, as changing the quarters would have been a big ask for what was until recently a fairly low valued car. On the convertibles however, I'm sure you're correct.

Interesting seeing the maroon 55 Sedan delivery. I had one as a kid bought for $75.00 with 30,000 miles on it. I drove and drove it all over the country and never one problem. I am now in the process of restoring another one and I don't think I bought anything for this one that cost less than $75.00. I hope to have it on the road by next summer. Building it one piece at a time.

I will try and post a couple of photos of the car. The mechanical is completed on the car and we are trying to finish the body work and paint by years end.
Welcome nice wagon . But that garage is far to clean.
