Here is one from the "When did you last see one?" files! Not only is Matt Langford's (a.k.a ss acadian 350) L48 1969 Acadian rare, it's likely the best one in existance. What more can I say? We'll let the photos do the talking:
Matt says: "I purchased the car in 1999 as a parts car , but it was in too good of shape to cut-up and the paper work is "bullet proof". It's very nicely optioned , great colours etc. At the time I was restoring a 1969 L78 NOVA SS . So I gave the acadian a full resto! It took some time an some $ - a lot of work but it was worth it. It's lot a fun to drive . I had it at AUTOFEST and meet three or four members there .IT'S THE FIRST AND ONLY ACADAIN SS that most people had ever seen ??"

Just awesome Matt, glad I could help in a small way with the under hood restoration.
I notice that it was my 12th Birthday on the day it was originally sold!

Way to go for saving it! Your car is beautiful. You certainly don't have to worry about meeting it's twin on every street corner...

I have a few left if you like send me a PM.
The fact is the air cleaner design is my own borrowed heavily from the Pontiac and Beaumont Astro Jet or Econo Jet Big Block style. It bugged me every time I saw a Canadian Poncho with a Turbo-Fire decal that all the Chevy repo houses sell south of the border so I took matters into my own hands. I made up 20 and sold a few on e-bay to recover my $300 cost.
The original Big Block decals have a different shade of blue but I chose the colour I did to match closer to the US Pontiac engine colour.
That's the story. They do look nice though, don't they?
PS. I had them made up with 250 HP as the photo shows but Matt just cut that off for his 300 HP installation. The reason I did that was because my 1973 L-48 was rated SAE Net at 175 Net HP which works out to pre '72 - 250 Gross HP.
Absolutely the nicest late 60's early 70's Acadian I have ever seen.....ever! Congratulations on a truly exceptional restoration.

This is a really nice car. I saw this at Matt's shop a few months ago. It looks even better in person. This car is a great buy for someone.

I was too busy this past week and weekend. Barrie is getting to be too much like a yard sale. I haven't found to much the past couple of times I've gone other than some parts to resell and with the market the way it is right now it's just not feesible.

Every GM Dealer service department has those.

It depends how cheap the service department is. We opted for the plain 9cent each ones from an independent supplier rather than the 13 cent ones from GM.....
