Finally joined your site, have been looking for a while. Finally figured how to attach photos, so figured its now or never!! My ride...67 SD 396. Built on April 28 '67, sold at birchwood Motors Winnipeg. Car now is in Calgary area. Used to be yellow, but now red. When purchased the whole drive line was wrong, so I have been slowly replacing all, and now is a little more correct. Has 67 block 396, 454 heads, 700R4, and 12bolt posi., and disc brakes. Still more to do but almost complete. Finally got her out this last Oct, and now can't wait for Spring. This is my third Beaumont I have owned, other 2 were Customs when I was younger...back in the late 70's!! Always been a Fan of the Beaus...finally got one with HP and Torque!! Wishing all a merry Xmas and prosperous New Year!!
Welcome to the site! you are like another Christmas present! Love the car! gorgeous Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you!!!

Are you aware that Birchwood is still in business today in Winnipeg?
I was going to ask how you did the power steering pump without the remote resevoir like the 396 but in looking at it, I am thinking you have the later water pump and pulleys from a 454?
That car is beautiful.

700R4 works Great!! It bolted right in without any mods. Had it built to handle 500 plus HP....shifts firm from 1st to 2nd, but perrs along at @1800rpm at 60mph (373's in the rear).

As much as I could!! Not good at body work, but enjoy the mechanical! Amazing what you can build with a screw driver and a few wrenches!

Hi Beau 67 SD. What is a 700R4? I also have a '67 beaumont SD, 454ci with a T400, and 391 gears. I rev 3400 rpm @ 60mph. how can I get it to rev 1800 rpm @ 60 mph ?

Leo, 700R4 is GM's 4 speed automatic. Mine came from a early 90,s chev truck. The newer ones need a computer to make them work prooperly, but mine only has the switch to activate the lock-up. Basically its a 4 speed auto with overdrive! Any reputable trans shop should be able to assist with you on this. had mine built to handle 500 plus HP. Bolted right in with no modifications. Installed a Hurst verticle gate shifter, looks like a 4 speed shifter with a T handle!
