I am trying to find new hood springs for my 53 Pontiac. National Chevy Association has a set listed for 53. Does anyone know for sure if these will be the same for my 53 Canadian Pathfinder. Thanks

Great. Thanks I'll order a set to install in the spring. I think I'll shim them with wood shims to install. This seems to be the recommended method with a few guys I've talked to

Welcome!
I order a set of spring from NCA some years ago, they are the same as other supplier, but for my 53 they were less stronger then my original old one. I think, the canadian Pontiac hood is heavier than the Chevy one. On other forum, the Chevy owner seem to have mostly the same problem.
I order new one by a general spring manufacturer with the original spec. It work fine.
On my resto, I think I will change the lower anchor for a screwed one, hand made. This way I will ajust the tension and easier to install.
Can you put a link to your car?
Rollilk, your new NCA hood spring are OK?
Fitz.

Thanks for the tip Fitz. I have to do something or my hood is going to hurt someone. Probably me. The adjustable lower anchor is a great idea.
I'm not good at this so I dont know how to link to my car but here's a few photo's
A Long story short they Hounored the first set that didn't work..Too weak, then second set were fine, just needed to be real carefull not to pull them too much to install.

Hi, Phil. Here's a few pictures from the manual that show hood spring removal and installation. It looks like the springs are easier to get at in the 53-54 Pontiacs than they are in my 51.
