I'm starting to gather some suspension parts for the 67' Gp this spring. Plan on doing the front upper control arm and strut rod bushings. Bigger front bar with poly mounts. Rear stabilizer bar, poly panhard bar bushings...and new shocks front and back. The car has the original AC spiral tube shocks, and are really pretty wasted.
Anyhow, I have been thinking on doing a set of Edelbrock IAS classic shocks (in grey), but have found Bilstien HD's for a very good price.
Now I do realize the Gp is a big soft car, but I'd like to tighten it up a bit, question is, will the Bilstiens just be way too harsh? From what I've ever read, you cannot get a better quality monotube shock than a Bilstien...period.
Stick with the Edelbrocks at extra cost, or none of the above? Any thoughts?

I put in A/CDelco in mine I think the bushings and bars will give you the handeling you want..

AC Delco has a great shock and a great price on gas shocks.

I still have spirals on my 69. I will be reading this thread with interest as I suspect these could be the reason my car still shakes over 100kmh with the radials..

I'd suggest going with a good shock like the bilstiens. I put a bigger front bar & a rear bar on my 69 Caprice, and it's still soft, though improved over stock. It has stock springs though. My next move with this car wil be poly bushings, good gas shocks and maybe stiffer springs.

Not been able to find a price for ACDelco's, but I'd imagine they must be similar in price to the Monroe's. I had Sens a Track's on a 79' Crown Vic, a bit better than stock, but still too "floaty".
I do have a set of new red Edelbrock IAC Performers on my 69' chassis, but I don't want to start robbing from it, because we know what that'll lead to! I think I might go with the Bilsteins, and if they're to harsh, I'll simply swap them out for the Edelbrocks in the project Chassis. Truth is, I've always wanted to try some Bilsteins
Imagine...a big 67' 4 door able to handle!

My Ventura II has Monroe gas shocks, and HD springs, and front and rear bars, and handles like a corvette..
My Strato Chief has big block springs, and front sway bar, and handles like a Bull in a Whore house.. and the tires vibrate at 100mph in 3rd
I have a shock question too.... since the car is lowered (cut springs a bit) i was thinking on useing air shocks on all four corners, and even putting a compressor in. I imagine it will only raise it by an inch or two but that makes a big difference when driving. I also figured it would help the front end from bouncing too much. I might have asked this question before but cant remember if it was here. heres the front lowered, doing the back right now. Even with the old springs and pretty much non-working shocks, i can jump on the bumper and not bottom out, close though! (im also 200 pounds, of muscle of course)!!

Air shocks? on the front? interesting.. if the shocks are through the coils, intallation will be intersting air bags?
every inch, you move the car up or down, throws the front end alignment "out" 1 degree

the shocks are through the coils on the front and i was thinking getting the alignment done with the shocks raised, and just lowering at shows, but then im not sure if that would really work. I should put some good gas shocks in and see what happens first, bounce down the road and see if it bottoms out.

Bought my Bilstien's from Turner Motorsports for $59ea.Had them shipped USPS,no brokerage fees.I always ask for no fedex,ups and most co's will usually do it.

Just like you DRI, I'll never buy anything if it has to come UPS (unless some rare nos piece). What did they charge you USPS? I got charged $65 from Michigan, I found that a little high, but I guess 4 shocks makes for a pretty good sized package, with some weight to it as well. I paid 59 and 67, pretty fair for Bilstein HD's I figure. All in all with shipping, taxes and exchange, they should come in for around $95 CDN each.
I tried the Bilsteins, and found them to be teeth rattling stiff. I only had them in for a year or so.
But a set for the Beaumont might very well be valved different.

A good way to isolate the vibration is to put on one tire at a time and drive the car to see if there is an improvement.
Make certain the tire you are using is balanced and runs true.
People often think the vibration is from the front but it can be found anywhere.
Retired from 20 years in the tire business.

Cheapest price I've seen anywhere, $65 to ship USPS which seems rather high, but still decent for Bilsteins.
