Hi everyone, I had recently bought a 54 Pontiac 2 door sedan and wouldn't mind figuring out my Serial Number: 4201124326 Here she is:
I had bought her off of a guy who had owned her for 2 years and let it sit in his yard. He bought it off the original owners nephew. He told me the uncle used it to deliver honey way back in the 50's. The past owner said it hasn't been registered in well over 20 years and has probably sat for longer then that.
My plan with this old girl is to clear coat over what's on her now and to add hydraulics. I plan on rebuilding the straight six and transmission that's in it now. As for the interior, I wouldn't mind restoring it back to original, although it will be a challenge to find some missing parts etc...
Also I plan on this being a side project for the time being as I am currently rebuilding my grandfathers and great-uncle's old 62 GMC truck.

welcome aboard and thats a fine lookin car!! great idea with the clear coat, im a rat rod patina guy myself. I would caution about hydraulics unless you are putting a new frame or newish front and rear end. Its a rough ride for that old beast, i would look into bags? Or...what about channeling the car over the frame to get the lowwww look, that would be cool.

Bodywise she's fairly solid, only the drivers quarter is rusted through. There are other spots of rust through but not as major as the quarter panel. The cabin floors are shot although the trunk floor seems too be fairly solid still.
Here are some more pictures of her, these were taken before I recieved the car at the past owners yard:
As for the hydraulics, I'm still up in the air if I want to do them or not. I could bag it, I guess. I'm not sure what I could use for a donor for a front/rear end as I am still new to this car. I do however plan on swapping out atleast the front drums for discs, just for the added safety. I'm just not sure what I can use for that either, unless there are kits for this kind of swap? Thanks!

I'll be sure keep everyone posted with progress, although it will be slow. My GMC, as of now, is stripped down to the frame. I'm swapping suspensions with a newer truck. The Caddy 500 is still needing to be rebuilt, hope to have that one driveable by the late fall/early winter.
I will definately look into getting that conversion kit soon enough. Right now, I just plan on doing small things to her as it's sitting in a storage lot and I am unable to do bigger jobs on her. The place that it's sitting in frowns upon working on the cars, so unless I can find a storage place that is willing to let me work on it, I won't be able to accomplish any major work on it until my truck is finished.
Also this car was sitting in Newton, Manitoba for the past 2 years or so. About 25 minutes from Portage. I had seen this car on Kijiji and had taken a drive to see her about 3 weeks ago. I was undecided on it as I thought he was asking a bit too much, but he called me a few days ago with a price we both agreed on and he drove it right to where it sits now.
Here are a few pictures of what my truck looked like before I stripped it down and how it looks now. On my Uncle's farm: Front suspension is off, waiting for the new one to be installed. I'll also be taking out the rearend and putting in a Chev 3/4ton 14 bolt.

check out fatman fabrication for your front end on your 54 i got a new front crossmember and shock towers for my 48 they do great work and know what they are doing i just sent them a picture and a few simple measurements and viola instant front end.

To bad you are so far away I know of a guy that has a fresh 500 caddy for sale for real cheap he had bills for $3000 I think you could get it for $1000

I've been getting quotes on my caddy 500 and I've had as high as $6000+ and as low as $3000 for a stock build. I'm thinking mine will likely cost in the range of $4000 as the block has been recently machined and is just in need of being built. I wish I had the knowledge of building an engine as I would do it myself. Someday I'll experiment with a SBC 350 I picked up for $50.
I really shouldn't have all these projects being 19! It's a bit hard on the wallet, but that's why I have 2 jobs I guess...

Cool car,nice to find a 2 door.The floor panels can be found on ebay,same for the rockers.Apparently you can use most of ther stuff for a 54 chevy from the firewall back.I know i'll be needing a set for my panel when i start on it.Also sms auto fgabrics for your seat material.

Alright thanks for the info, I'll definately be looking into new floors. As I was sweeping out some dirt, I managed to take out half of the back seat floors!

I haven't been able to work on either of my projects recently due to working alot lately although I recently picked up a hood ornament for the Pontiac from another one being the same year:
I hope to get working on both of my projects soon. I hope to find a full time job soon enough to have the time to work on them!
