Thanks for all the welcomes.
Im just starting to do a few of the basics.
The carb needs rebuilding (dropped it off at a carb place for that)
The brakes were stuck on both back drums, but after backing them off, and pulling the drums off, things dont actually look that bad in there. The emergency brake doesnt seem to be working on the passenger side. It tightens up, but must be seized inside the housing by the drum.....
Quick question, im sure someone here will know.
The front drums have springs around the exterior of the drum, but the back ones dont. What are those springs for? Are they supposed to be on the back too?
Anyway, time to head out.

Another question.
Why is there two different types of trim on these 2 Pathfinder Deluxe's?
Mine seems to match up with Hwscowboy's car, while Rolilk's is different.

It is a question with "some" different answer.
There is no spring on the rear drum, the purpose of those spring is act like a radiator and help to cool the drum. It's not working well on a rusted drum, anyway on brand new one now they don't offered the spring to go with. If you want to save it to put on a new drum, it will not hold well because the spring lost tension over the year and the rust act like an isolant.

Those pictures show 2 different car, not 2 Pathfinder Deluxe. The left one is a Laurentian and on right is a Pathfinder Deluxe, 2 are Canadian car but not on the same option level.

Well thank you for the information. The drums (although rusty on the exterior) are in really nice shape. I was expecting a lot of gouging and that sort of thing! The previous owner did do the brake cyldrs, and shoes.

I'm pretty sure that the trim on mine is all original,but my car is a very production car.I've been told #13 off the line and only the 2nd pathfinder special deluxe built that year.It seems to have some special options like the spotlight and upgraded interior that differs from other pathfinders of the same year.Although strangly enough i found another pathfinder for sale in manitoba that has the same interior but in blue.I'm thinking that mine may have been a dealer promo car or something like that so it got some special touches along the way.I'm hoping my report from gm historical services may shed some light.I have seen an option catalog from 54 and it does show my interior and spotlight as add-on options,maybe the trim was an option as well.

Sorry, ive been working on the mopar. (thats probably just like swearing around here!) :) My 1966 Chrysler 300. (that im selling because of my 54 Pontiac - Too much to do, too little time, and having 4 vehicles in a 1 driver home, REALLY starts taking up space!)
The car came with some manuals/brochures. They dont seem to be for Canadian model Pontiacs though. I was thinking of selling them on kijiji. Any ideas what these things go for?
I just picked up a 54 Pontiac 4 door.
