On the top of the rearend the original bushings were all the way to the larger offset, the lower bushings were 1/4 inch from the offset. I put them in the same spot. Question shouldn't the top and botton bushings go all the way in till they stop on the larger offset?

You have a 68 Catalina? Right?
If so, you'll probably need to talk to the Beaumont guys about the uppers, if not mistaken you have the same sort of rear setup as the Chevelle/Beaumont. The rear end with the two ears each side of the diff housing.
At least on the B body Cp/Impala, the upper bushings are pressed through the arms themselves, leaving about equal distance showing each side. The lowers go all the way in to seated on the bushing shell flange, the small step on this type of shell is so you don't have to press fit the entire diameter through the first hole in the arm, just the stepped section or the last 1/2" or so. One hole in the arm is a larger diameter than the opposite. I think your lowers should be the same. There should be no 1/4" gap between the arm and the shell flange, it should be all the way in. Perhaps it's moved?

Hmmm...After poking around, I now see that the 65-70 Catalina rear end has the lower bushings in the rear end itself. This picture below shows this, with the open trailing ends of the lowers. I'd be inclined to think the lower bushings should also be pressed in to the stops in the axle ears, just like the tops.
Nice kit, I think I'd have to have it if I had a Cat! Click the link.
I'm leaving the lower bushing set 1/4 inch from the larger flange as the originals.

As a Beaumont guy the rear upper and lower trailing arm bushings go all the way in till the flange of the bushing is flush with the arm itself. The bushings on the top of the rear end go in till they hit the shoulder of the bushing, not all the way. Hope that helps.
