I know the tag informations are in the engine bay. But, in Belgium, they need to find this number engraved in the metal of the frame or the body. Can I find the VIN on the frame of a '57? Or have I to burn it?

I know in 54 and before they get any number on frame, and I think any until 59-60. Maybe someone will add something or correct me on this one.

heres a report on a 1962
Found my 62 Frame VIN Stamp Today
I found the VIN stamped on my frame today. In the past I have seen people interested or discussing the location of these stamps. I'll post a couple photos for reference purposes. My car is Tarrytown produced and I guess different factories stamped in different locations.

I'm pretty sure that in 55,56,57 Chevy's the frame is stamped on the top side, drivers side ,anywhere from the drivers seat area back to where a back seat passenger would put their feet. I also read that this was only on cars built in the U.S. and that Canadian built cars did not have this stamping. I have seen these numbers ,they were hand stamped and very hard to see even on a clean frame.
