yeah my plan was to put two 6x9 speakers in the parcel shelf but have them mounted below and cover the deck with cloth so the speakers are out of sight, and I see that there are some reproduction impala kick panels available that have speaker pods in them so i was gonna try them out.
I was going to suggest that exact set up, should sound good. you could
also just upgrade the dash speaker with the rears would sound good too.

I mounted my deck under the driver's seat. I point the remote control at the brake pedal and the signal rebounds to the deck. Since I never drive the car when it's real cold out, I pulled out the vent doors and mounted speakers there. Vent grills now become speaker grills. Convertibles really don't have much for mounting speakers and I'm not into cutting holes.

Here is what i do for my clients cars that want good sound and factory looks. This is a Barracuda convert that i did, for non-verts i do the custom rear pannel perferated for the sound to come through and covered with a matching carpet to the interior. Front speakers on all old cars can be done by using 2- 4inch speaker and use the factory speaker as your template to make a new mounting plate for the new speakers so you get the right and left signal ( you can also do this for the single rear speaker too) For the headunit, i use Alpine electronics with a marine remote control so the radio can be hidden anywhere in the car.

Put the deck in the glove box and hidden speakers under the bucket seats. Sound seems to be multidirectional as it comes from below.

I like the front speakers in the kick panels ... you can camoflage them well there too. Just make sure you put some hush-mat in behind them or else the backpressure from the speaker movement will make the speakers sound like they are in tomato juice cans!
Hello all, just wondering where and what speakers everyone is running? my car only has the dash speaker.
I would like to do a real slick install keep the stereo low key, just some good sound don't wanna draw attention away fro the car itself.
Hey Robert, are you planning on putting some in the back deck ?
The car I just bought has a radio/stero in the glove box and 4 Kenwood speakers
seems to sound good
I am not into big dollar stereo (thousands)
This "seems" nice
