just wondering if anyone out there has a single barrel carb for a 55 261ci kicking around, or even just the float. My float has a hole and ive tried patching it but nothing seems to hold once it sits submersed in fuel. Rest of the carb is fine, put a kit in it this spring and it was running great till the float fills with fuel...lol
Cant seem to find any carb shops in ontario that carry parts, they just wanna rebuild it for you.
any help is greatly appreciated!!!
Cheers!

Should be a model BC, produced 1954 through 1961. Replaced with the model BV, differing only in choke actuation. The V means Vacuum choke, where the C means Coil choke. A straight Rochester B means manual choke and was produced 1931 through 1968 for the six cylinder Chevy trucks.
I bought a rebuild kit for my BV at Barrie, although it must have been 20 years ago. Let me check into the float and see what it is made of. Perhaps if it is cork (wouldn't surprise me) then making your own and sealing it with dope may be the ultimate solution. These are old carbs and use leather seals; real 1930s tech.

Adam try CARB REBUILDERS in Toronto, Ontario. They are on 60 Eugene St. Toronto. (416) 781-1407 (416) 781-8114. Ask for Don Oake. Don really knows his stuff and is a great guy to deal with. If he does not have any floats i would be very very surprised. Also you may be able to fix the leak in the float with some two part epoxy that you can buy at Can. Tire. Good luck brother. George.

You just have to watch if you do a repair on a float you can easily change the weight of it. That can change the way it functions. Hopefully you can locate one.

ya its not cork their made of super thin metal like the gas tank floats and are very fragile. Im trying some 2 part epoxy on it that isnt supposed to react to gas but we will see if that is true!! lol Thanks everyone for your help, greatly appreciated!

Adam,
I did the epoxy thing on my float from my 60 Laurentian, It seemed to work but the epoxy ended up peeling off when it was soaked with gas. After fishing all of the epoxy out of the float bowl I found that the leak had stopped. But I also found a rebuilt carb at a fleamarket so I had a backup just in case and it has been sitting in my garage for the last couple of years. The Laurentian is gone nowand I don't have any use for a one barrel Rochester so you can have it if you think it might help you.

There is a glue called " seal all " that can be used on gas and oil containers. Available in the paint dept at CTC.
