I think i have everything finished up on my 54 laurentian so should be off for its final inspection and then plates.i fixed the few things that they had pointed out on the first inspection so hopefully all good now.Heres a bit of history on the car as i know it.I picked it up out of a garage in alberta beach about 4 years ago, partially disasssembled, not running but had been plated and licensed at some point 10 years ago.I suspect they parked it after breaking the transmission. So home it came, off came the front clip, engine and trans removed.I bought a rebuild kit for the powerglide and rebuilt it finding the low/reverse lever had broken. It is an automatic car.Took the engine down to the head and block and re-gasketed evrything,it only shows about 77,000 on the odometer.Rebuilt the starter, generator, carb, water pump.Went through the front suspension and found it had been rebuilt before the car was parked.Put all of it back together, new plugs, wires, rebuilt dist, etc. The car has been repainted sometime before i got it,close to its original peublo tan factory color. It will need a re spray someday but look ok for now.Put all new shocks, new rear brakes,drums,shoes,4 rebuilt wheel cylinders.new shocks all around.new exhaust engine to tip,new signal lenses, new carpet.Probably a bunch of other stuff i've forgot about.According to the numbers it is the 13th car off the line and the 2nd laurentian off the line for 54.So far i've only put about 50kms on her but runs like a top, drives nice and straight,i do need to bleed the brakes once more as they seem a little soft still,oh yeah rebulit master cylinder, new e brake cables, new king pins/buchings,new ps tie rod.So heres a few pics so far,not a perfect show car and will need some rockers in the future but a good semi survivor.I had it out the other day and had a good offer to sell her so now really torn.I do have a few more projects,he offered 5500.00 cash for it,not sure exactly what ones worth these days.I've seen restared chieftons on ebay for 20-30 thousand and laurentians must be rarer, although i have no illusions that mine is a 30g example.Just a fun driver for now.Enjoy the pics
the color is called pueblo tan.You can see the original color on the inside of the trunk and engine bay.The repaint is very close maybe one shade darker. If you look on the 54 pontiac brochure the car on the cover is the same pueblo tan and white.Probably just a coincidence but being such an early production number.13th off the line,2nd laurentian maybe it was modeled after the brochure. It does have some rare options like the ds mirror/spotlight combo. If i do keep it i plan on doing the rockers and rear quarters this winter.I have a set of fender skirts for the car i would like to run.
