Hey Guys, Im glad to be part of the club, I just picked up a 1956 Pontiac Pathfinder Deluxe V8 car, the original engine and trans are long gone and have been replaced with a 350 and TH350, I was wondering how to decipher the body codes to find out how this car came from factory, also floor pans, do I have to make my own or do Bel Air pans work? Thanks

Welcome, sounds like a nice car you have acquired. The tri-five experts on here will be able to help you with everything you asked about. I can tell you that we all have gotten used to the fact that when ordering parts just saying the equivalent Chevrolet gets you what you need 99% of the time, remember your have a Pontiac styled body and interior over a Chevrolet chassis.

James, a hardy welcome aboard from Milton, Ontario. Tell us more about your 56 Pontiac and are there any photos to share with the Pontiac brotherhood. Good luck with your 56 and enjoy the ride here on Canadian Poncho's. Cheers. George.

Thanks guys for the welcome. my car is an alberta car and aside from that I don't know much about her. She needs some love but hey who doesn't? The engine and trans are rebuilt out of a 1980 Camaro and shes got pep, I plan on keeping the crusty rusty vibe with her till I get bored of it, ill have to figure out how to post pictures as soon as I learn how pictures will come
James, thanks for sharing that sweet 56 ride with us. Are you going the " rat rod " look through out? That other motor you got there, what is it and what is it for? Your 56 was an original V-8 car, so that would have been a 265 V-8 originally. Being an Alberta car, my guess is that she is mostly solid. Someone on here will give you all the info you need on your car. Continued good luck on your 56 and feel free to ask questions to the Pontiac brotherhood. Cheers. George.

James, the windshield is 55 56 57 Chevy but be sure that it is for a sedan and not a hardtop. There is a big difference of 1" between the two. The sedan has a taller windshield. As you know all the down stairs sheet metal is 55 56 57 Chevy. Cheers. George.

Just post all the data plate info on here and I will see how much I can decode it for you. It was a 265 automatic 2 speed powerglide car originally. Someone has added Laurentian tailights at some point in its life. The car looks like it was two tone black and white. Nice car to start with.
