So I am having some trouble identifying the original axle code marking and I know on US made models I can find the axle code on the left axle tube near the rear diff. but I don't see any markings there. Are they in a different location on Canadian built cars? Any other codes or stampings that may be in a different location for other things on the car? More importantly, did the Canadian factories use the same codes as the US plants or is there a different reference that I need to use to decode items on this car? Thanks gang.

On my 1970 cars the markings are on the passenger side axle tube, a couple inches from the center section, facing forward. I remember another member trying to find his stampings, and his were a bit more towards to top of the tube. The markings are decoded the same as the US plants. I have a 65 - 74 Cdn Pontiac parts book that has the codes.

Well just as you said, there it is. And if I read this right, This should have been a Chevelle 3:07 ratio posi? If it was built in Canada would they have used Chevelle parts to construct a GTO? maybe I'm reading this wrong but I can't find a CY code on ANY year Pontiac rear ratio ID charts. The last symbol in the picture is a "B"
