Have been looking for a small/light trailer that I can tow behind the Canso in the 12-14' range. Just wondering if anyone out there has towed a 1000lb trailer on a 1st/2nd gen unibody. My concern is having the 1/4's buckle after hitting a major bump. Sould I beef up the back end, leave it alone(will be fine) or forget the whole idea because the car won't handle it??? Any input would be great! Thx Jim

Honestly, I'm not so sure I'd do anything more than a little utility trailer to haul garbage, Jim. I just never felt the suspension and handling on those cars was good enough for just the car, never mind a trailer. And they are pretty light which is not a great combo.

The owners and/or shop manual should mention whether or not you can tow.

Your insurance provider in BC may have an opinion on towing with a classic car.
The antique car insurers in Ontario don't allow trailer towing. I've even heard that if your appraiser sends in pics that show a trailer hitch on the car they may refuse you.

Nothing in Manual except to fallow provincial regulations?

Good point! My 57 has reg Ins so I can tow with it. Will have to look into Canso Ins if I decide to tow.
