Hi guys and gals, just thought I would ask before I tear into it, as I am in the process of stripping my Star Chief prior to repainting, and re chroming the front bumper. Can anyone confirm my thoughts about how to remove the front bullet cover? It appears from looking at them that the prongs on the inside have to be bent over so that the cover can be pushed out from the inside.
Many thanks in anticipation of any responses.

If there bent to hold in..need bent to come out. Not the same..but the parts with the same application that I have removed, have found that you'll never get the tabs as tight when re-installing. Best method I have found is to straighten all the tabs(before re chroming) and make sure it drops in nicely so your not fighting with it on install. For me was a small bent screwdriver to get under the tab to start to lift it.On install, a block of wood with a couple of layers of sheet/towel on top.Place face down so you can see the tabs to bend.....then a small 1/2-3/4 x6" strip of wood as a punch to fold them back over. Try to get at the starting point of the tab when tapping over....this will give you the tightest bite. Just what I have done in the past. Don't know if this helps...just throwing it out there. Good luck and happy re-chroming!!

I would like to add to Hawkeye5766 excellent idea by saying that i used a very (long) and very (wide) flat blade screw driver and very carefully bent back all the tabs. Bending them back once chromed, i used a chunk of hard plastic and very carefully bent them back. Good luck mate.
