hi everyone, wanted to introduce myself. I recently purchased a 1972 Pontiac Luxury LeMan. I woke up at 45 I figured I should do something I have always wanted to and am woefully unprepared for . I have never worked on cars but since I was kid I always thought it was the coolest thing. If I dont dive in the deep end I tend to get bored so I really jumped in. Since I am not an avid car guy with a specific car that I liked I decide on a 1972 Lemans because thats the year I was born and my dad had a Lemans. I figured that would keep me interested when those frustrating moments come! So thats the low down. I cant wait to get all of your advice and experience.

1) when my car arrived from Winnipeg (what an adventure)
2-3) when I finally got it in my garage
4) as I get started. Need to organize my garage better
i have given myself until 2022 to finish it. When the 2 of us turn 50!

yes it is. By way of another owner. I bought it then stated researching and found this forum. I then came up agai a thread with the car!!! Ive reached out to him. Turns out I live not far from where he grew up!

Welcome Pierre, Great site here ! Like I told him, It was not my dream car and I hated investing into it. Such a small world it ended up in a small Quebec town 15 min. away from where I grew up from 1964-86 before I joined the Airforce. All the best with your restoration. Let us know if you need any advice, great bunch of knowledgeable mechanics on Canadian Poncho ! By the way the short lived previous owner was from Winkler. You are the fifth owner.

Pierre, a hardy welcome aboard from Milton, Ontario. You finally caught the old car bug............ well good for you for catching that "good" bug. I like the car, i like the 400 motor and i like the fact that you are going to save her. Best of luck with the build and please keep us all up to date. We all love this kind of stuff here at C.P. The 400 4-barrel in my opinion was the best engine as they could rev & make power, or they could torque along without spinning them up. The 4-barrel version used larger valves than the 2-barrel. The dual snorkel air cleaner is stock and is a good setup. A 455 would be a gas hog & an assigned risk according to insurance companies.
The Luxury Le Mans used a different grille than the other models. It also would have come with fender skirts. Interior, if buckets, was the same as the Le Mans Sport.
