Rebuilding the suspension in my '65 El Camino. Contemplating replacing the steering box with a fast ratio one from a newer Jeep. Never occurred to me the effect of the stock diameter wheel.
For those who have replaced the steering box. Have you changed the steering wheel?

Years ago I did my 67 Malibu, an autocross car, and after one event, changed to a smaller wheel from a Monza GT.

Can you tell us why you changed it, was it the steering effort, number of turns lock to lock?
I'm trying to keep the interior all stock. Cant find a stock looking wheel in a smaller diameter.

I kept my stock steering wheel and have never even considered changing it. Works perfect for me.

It was 2.2 turns lock to lock, and on a track my hands moved less with a smaller wheel. It had a thicker rim too, which I liked.
