1963-1964-1962-1961 Pontiac- assembly manual- did they make one?

Ive posted here looking for this manual and been looking for one for a few years, never found one.
Did GM Canada ever publish one? Do you have one, just so I can confirm they exist?
Anyone have a picture of one?
I have the 61 shop manual and 63 supplement for the Cdn Pontiac. Below Pontiax has advised what he has for his 64, I assume that may be what was offered as well for the other years listed. If you have any information, please post it.
Thanks,
Don

You are almost correct Dale, it was a 61 shop manual and a supplement for each year. With a 63, you need the 61 and the 63 supplement. But in my old chevies you had a third manual, the assembly manual in these years. I had one for My 59, and 62, but cant find one for my Parisienne.

The Chev one Is helpful For a lot this of things Glenn, I still have mine for the 62 Chev. If you find one for a 63 Chev, Id trade you. And Ill let you know if I see a 62 assembly manual.
Maybe for those people reading this, let us know if you hav or have seen an assembly manual for a 61-64 Cdn Pontiac, at least well know if they ever existed?

There is a 40 page 1964 B body 7000 series product description assembly instructions manual. It is very useful when combined with 1964 chevrolet assembly manual.

That makes sense, likely what happened in other years too. Very little difference in the Cdn Pontiac and Chev in the same years other than a few things like the body, gauges, and I think we have different heaters?

Don lots of '63 Chev supplements on E-bay and 1 '63 Pontiac series 700 supplement, blue cover under 1963 Pontiac heading search. I don't think there is a manual specific for '63 other than the supplements.

Are we talking service manuals or assembly manuals? I always thought assembly manuals were the drawings that the factory used to assemble the cars, which isn't something that a dealer's service department would have access to, and were distinctly different from parts manuals, which would have exploded views but not info like dimensions, etc.
Sorry, but I'm a little confused when you are talking about supplements, etc., so just trying to clarify. Carl S. has had some assembly manuals that he was selling, but I'm sure everybody here knows that already.

I am convinced the 63 Canadian Pontiac assembly manual microfiche is hidden somewhere in the horn of a unicorn, never to be found if it does indeed exist. My suspicion is it wasn't ever put together by GM.

Is there a specific question that needs answering, or torque specification. That the 64 manual might answer.?

So it is the factory assembly manual you are looking for.
Carl, do you know why one would not have been made for 1963? Perhaps I'm wrong on my assumption, but my impression is that the assembly manuals are how GM engineers passed on instructions for assembly to their plant managers so that all vehicles in all plants would be assembled in the same way, to GM's engineering standards. Once the drawings got to the plant, then there would sometimes be variations agreed to line-side to adapt to the way any particular plant built the car. Keep in mind that not all factories had the same equipment/layout, and there were local variations on how certain things were done because of this, as well as plant-specific know-how and passed-on procedures.
To say that there was never any assembly manual for 1963 is like saying that the instructions were passed along by word of mouth, which is not standard engineering procedure. Not saying I disagree with you, as I have no way of knowing how GM of Canada operated in 1963, but it doesn't stand up logically.

Sorry, I meant it wasn't put together as a package and put onto fiche like the years after that. I don't doubt they had assembly line pages for the workers, I just suspect it was never put together as manual like 64 and up.

Ah, I understand what you mean. It wasn't archived like the other ones were. Thanks for the clarification, Carl, and thanks for the service that you provide to CP members for those assembly manuals.

The correct manual for the 1964 Cdn Pontiac is the 1961 shop manual and the 1964 supplement. They need to be the Cdn manuals, which are marked as Pontiac 7000. The 1964 Chevrolet full size shop manual will likely be of benefit to you as well.
The manuals are available on Kijiji in Canada and on eBay, dont buy USA Pontiac manuals, it useful at all. The Cdn Pontiac manuals are only available used, the Chevy assembly manual is available reproduction.

Feel free to join this site and welcome to Canadian Poncho, the best place for Canadian Pontiac owners. Post pictures and tell us about your car, start a new post for that here or in the forum Members Rides.
You can also get the as built specs and options for your 64 from Vintage Services in Ontario, very interesting information and they also provide GM build specs for the factory.
I have a Swedish long time friend from Gothenburg area, he worked for Volvo Marine in the 1970s, drove 240s for Volvo in off-road racing. He moved to Canada in the 80s.
Check these sellers other items for sale, they may have both both manuals to save on shipping.
