I've got my rear window channel on my 65 pretty much down to metal. At least where the Urethane sealer would be in contact with the channel.
Question;
Would you leave this narrow strip bare metal? Or paint it?
The fear is anything I might apply to this area could lift. All I have in the way of 2K is Eastwood Chassis black, and maybe some ancient Grey Nason primer. Will it stick to bare metal without any other prep?
Thanks, Mark

You will use the special "pinch weld primer" for urethane window install. Use this for sure it is avail from body supply shops in little jars with a swab brush. some urethane will say it is primerless, DONT.
I would not urethane to fresh painted surface, this i learned at the body shop from a 50 year in the bussiness glass installer. It was either, good automotive primer or bare metal, then the pinchweld primer, and good to go.

yes let a professional glass installer put it in with pinch weld primer

Thank you Dave! This is the exact answer I'm looking for.
The plan now; Paint all the channel, except where the sealer will be in contact. Pinchweld prime that section.

Would this product be appropriate? We have ProForm everywhere down here as it's made local.
Yes, the proform primer is the most cost effective as it comes in a smaller size, it works fine.
As for the urethane, i would highly recomend Sika. I think there is sikaflex and sikatack, body supply will know, try to get one you dont have to heat, but i would still heat the tube in boiling water for awhile, it make it so much easier.

And while on the glass subject, could anyone point me at a sealer that they would recommend?
I see this ProForm product, suitable?
