Does anyone have experience with using some sort of dip to replenish the coating on these little guys?
I recall 35 years ago when I was a volunteer fireman we refurbished a bunch of our tools/equipment that had a coating similar to this stuff on handles etc. One of the guys showed up with a pail of some sort of stuff that we could dip items into and then let it dry. It seems to me it left a coating similar to this stuff, but I can't recall for sure?
I've been reading about it. Have you used it Mark? The one description about it I read said it remains kind of rubbery and the original stuff doesn't do that.

Years ago I did. And it did remain pretty soft. But it would do the job on those loom separators.

Yes buy the plastdip in a can that you dip parts into. Don't use the spray. I've done it for years. Factory results. Yes it should be a bit rubbery. The originals are just petrified from years of oil. Oil will soften the plastidip tho.

I'm glad you replied not to use the spray. I was about to order a spray can!

Glad you knew that, you saved me the grief.
I see I can order it from my local Home Hardware and Canadian Tire also has the liquid cans.

I use this stuff, it works great. Its about $15.00
The stuff works great. Always had different colours in the shop.
Only issue, once the can is open the remainder doesn't keep long term, it dries up eventually.
Either buy a small can or use it up as soon as possible. Good for tool handles.

You use it for the plug wire retainers?
I have that stuff and had thought about using it but I wasn't sure how well it would work.

Ask Jerel. I gave him some plug wire holders cleaned up and rediped about (2) yrs ago.
I have found that putting aluminum foil over the top and putting the plastic cap over this it will keep far longer.
I have one that is (2) yrs old and is still use able. In the house.
I also found that when it gets low in the can that by adding something that sinks to the bottom will raise
the level so you can get the most out of the can helps.

Next time I see you we'll try to do that. I may not get to these until next week, we'll see how things go. I get my shot on Friday morning so allowance is being made for being out of commission for a day or two, just to be safe.
