I got a freshly rebuilt engine (Chevy Straight Six 230) that was driven for the first break-in about 100 miles, drove great then issues started with carburator. Rochester bv1 was rebuilt ans still leaks and overflow creating fouling and backfiring in the exhaust.
Timing checks ok, i need to replace the carb, someone in USA told me the only option was Offenhauser Holley 4bbl style intake, along with a modded 600 cfm to run on 3 barrels only.
So i'm checking here, in case anyones have tech info on what i could do to replace this leaky Rochester and rule out my issues.
Complete engine is rebuilt and refresh, costed a lot of $ so i try to avoid spending another 2k$ alone for an Offy/Holley set-up.
Let me know if you got hints or parts, i'm in Quebec Canada.
Ciao gang ! :)

I HAVE A RE-MAN. CARB I BOUGHT 10-12 YEARS AGO FOR MY '64. IT WAS INSTALLED ON THE CAR THEN REMOVED, HAS NEVER HAD GAS RUN THROUGH IT.
I WILL NEVER USE IT. IF YOU CAN USE IT, SEND ME A PM.
Dont follow what the us guy told you, bad advice. Find a good local carb guy via any local old car guys. A rebuilt carb needs t on be checked to confirm it is done right.
