I will check my service manual. My car is a 1949 Streamliner. I havent had a reason to pull the axle shaft out of my car so I dont know what is in there in regards to a seal. I do know that in some GM cars the axle bearing is a sealed bearing and a separate seal isnt used.

If time and tying up work space isn't a problem then pull the existing one out ( careful not to distort it ). It most likely is from an established brand name and will have a part number stamped on it. Your jobber should then be able to source it or cross reference the number to another brand name. As a last resort you'll be able to take measurements off it for the parts supplier to use to match up. This takes a little longer and ties up work space for a while but is a path forward.

My shop manual does show the seal but unfortunately doesnt show the part number. I agree with the previous post that you may need to remove the seal and purchase a seal of the same dimensions.
I found this post on another forum. Apparently the seals are obsolete but there is a reply that says he has some old stock. The post is a few years old but it may be worth a try. Also I found that it seems the seals fit 1948 to 1954.

obsolete or not, you may be able to find a company which can make you new ones; They will be a bit pricey, but it sure beats a leaky seal!
I had luck with a local company that generally services the oil industry.
This is the company that I used; Hi-Tech Seals I brought my old seal in, told them what it was for, and they made me a new one.
There are also vendors who have obsolete/discontinued parts; Are you a member of POCI? I ask because every month there are advertisements for this kind of stuff in the classifieds section of Smoke Signals. POCI also has a facebook page, maybe you can join to put out a "help" post(?)
