I've had nothing but terrible luck with all the new ones. First I did a all solid state new one. Good name brand pro series. It had a parasitic drain on the battery all the time key off. Took it out replaced with a pro series OEM points style. It had a terrible buzzing sound. Went back to an old used rusted junker and been good ever since.

Over the years the only advantage I've seen with the electronic vs the old point style was on the Pontiacs the ammeter didn't flicker with the electronic. But as stated, I'm convinced the old point units win the durability race.

I have no personal experience with it, but I have heard good things about the Wells VR715. Pop an original Delco Remy cover over it and few will be the wiser. Try Googling it.

I looked at the 103T and it looked different underneath so I ordered the Standard VR103. Finders crossed it will be ok

Switched to an alternator that is internally regulated and just by-passed the original external (left it in for looks)
