Did the rod from the inside handle to the latch fall off? I would pull the door panel off and take a look. Do you have the special tool needed to remove the window crank before you pull the door panel off?

Panel removed. No tool....shoelace works well.
Rod is in place and moving.
Tried grease and exercise....
Still nothing!

Interesting. I guess something right inside the latch must have broken? Or is the rod moving it enough to release the latch?
I guess next step is to remove the latch, which is fairly simple.

Correct, it would just be a solid connection. I've seen where there is a bend in the rod (supposed to be that way) and if the bend straightens out, if effectively increases the length of the rod which in turn leads to it not pulling far enough on the latch. Have you tried undoing the rod at the handle end and pulling hard on it?

Keep that clip in a secure place. They tend to fly about when you attempt to put them in place on the handle.
