if so let me know and if you around vancouver area
Are you aware there's 2 different patterns on the SBC water pump hubs? You have to make sure the bolt pattern on the hub, on the pulley and on the clutch flange are all the same pattern.

Yes, same here.
Lots of the replacement hubs on the rebuilt water pumps you get now have both patterns but that helps nothing if you don't have the correct pattern pulley. And some of the fan clutch flanges have slots instead of holes so they fit both but there is no dual pattern pulley.

What is the best way to to adapt the 2 pieces then, what am I looking for.
What can I take to the parts store to match it up as my replacement fan has 8 holes in it.

Can you post pictures of your water pump pulley and also your fan clutch?
Do you have a picture the water pump pulley? We need to see which bolt pattern it is so you can get the right clutch to fit your fan and to fit the pulley.
When I get a chance later I'll look online for some pictures to explain what I mean.

Oh good, that helps lots. It will be the small bolt pattern so you will need to buy a clutch that is made to fit 68 or older small blocks. The only exception is Corvette and pickups "might" use a clutch that fits later than 1968 because I think they used a short water pump much longer. All the rest of the small blocks used a long water pump starting in 1969.

What part would I need to bring with me to the parts store to match it on the counter. Also I was thinking of just getting a regular duty not a heavy duty one

As long as you take your water pump pulley and the bolt pattern on the clutch is the same as the pulley you should be good to go.

Is there a benefit to a HD clutch as opposed to a regular one

My personal opinion would be to always buy the HD clutch if one is available. My experience selling replacement clutches the last many years that I was working was that most of the clutches out there were junk. When I sold a cheap clutch to a customer it often came back within weeks or months and was shot.
