Has anyone ran into this issue before? I have changed all my dash bulbs that plug into the panel behind the dash except the fuel gauge has a seperate pod for the bulb for the fuel gauge. It wont stay in as the plastic is worn out and looks like it has 3 wires and uses a 194 bulb as well. I may restort to silicone but would hate to go that route if I dont have too. Thanks!

Would a heat gun work to spread the tabs out? If the tabs are worn on the outside and won't clip in, I would suggest a new socket. Check with username Brett, he has a '67 parts or maybe someone else on here? Not sure what years are interchangeable.

Any chance you can post a photo of the troublesome spot?

Thanks a bundle! Looks like the tabs are missing in a few spots sadly. The unit itself works and I tried to connect another socket to the old sockets tabs but blew the dash lights fuse right away sadly. So I have removed and all is well again except the low fuel light will no longer work.

for sure! I found one but looks like it has 4 wires and the Pontiac only has green, black and red.
I was able to find an Olsmobile NOS unit with the same number of wires and the colours are also correct the only difference being the thickness of the wiring on the new one is smaller. Anyone out there familiar with these low fuel indicator interchange?
