Re: the Cheetah name: My guess is that it could have something to do with Conroy Pontiac Buick Dealership wanting to do something like Ace Wilson Royal Pontiac in Michigan state in the USA.
In the early sixties they came up with a high performance package for the big Pontiacs and called them "Bobcat Package" Then a bit later on when the GTO was introduced This dealership put these engine enhancements on them and called them GTO Bobcats. Then in 1966 GTO started to advertise with Tiger being connected with the name.
Is it any coincidence that all of these Pontiac performance improvements had wild cat type names. In the final analysis I guess that only the owners and managers of Conroy Pontiac back in the middle 60's would be able to tell us

Sorry to rain on your parade but it is not a # matching car,( I owned it for 13 years) but yes, it is the elusive 67 cheetah from Duncan, owned by Richard Jones, who bought it used in 68 or 69 from our local Ford dealer. The car was traded in on a truck as the original owner was transferred to Port Hardy I believe he was working for Finning. I bought a new shortblock L78 for it and it was redone during the restoration.. Ron
Sure looks to be the same car Fred. That car has a long option list and I would doubt that there were many the same out of the 117 stripe cars. My car is close to the same but the option list is much shorter. I am also noticing that most of the GG paint code cars have black interior. Not all mind you, since I know of 4 different 67's with gold interior.
Anyhow, just thought I would make note of some of the trends I am seeing since this site has been around and has exposed more of the 67 SD cars for all to see.
I had a gg 67SD (283/pg) with gold interior...but it was parted out... it's in the registry, I had the docs for it... I think it's a great colour combo, Mike your car with the stripes will look great!

Good stuff guys! I love the color combo too! When I was a kid, I had no appreciation for this combination. Funny how time and age changes things. I used to wish my car was black!
never heard of one but i bet this one could have been a pre cheetah maybe were the idea originated?

This topic's been running for quite a while and I came across a photo that I took of a Beaumont Cheetah at Parksville,B.C.show about 2007.Looks like the same car posted here earlier.

I was hoping somebody would have original pictures of a early 65 sd Beaumont from Conroy to prove such a thing. It is a neat idea for sure. Is there any other photos of any suspect early Cheetahs in the registry?
I sent this one to 68sd to add to the registry almost a week ago as bait and we were sure some was going to find it but no one commented on it!! This is the one I knew of and these are the pics of it.......... As I also stated to 68sd, the original engine is popped but he still has it. There is a 454ci in it now. I removed my later post of the cowl tag and inserted it here with the rest............Bump

So just wondering if this car is ever going going to hit pavement again. Maybe it has, I haven't read all 10 pages of this post. Love the pics. Anything 67 SD or Cheetah related I'm listening.
My son owns the L-74 1965 Cheetah. Who owns the other 65 Cheetah is the question if it still exists. Just know it was sited in the showroom in the day..

So has he finished the restoration on it and is it on the road now?
Can anyone confirm if the Beaumont Cheetahs were all hardtops or were there a limited number of convertibles produced? There are production number out there, however there is no specific information noting hardtops versus convertibles. There was a 427, L72 yellow Cheetah convertible at a local car show that appeared to be unrestored and had the "right" Conroy Pontiac badging (not a reproduced decal). I was not able to locate the owner to verify the cars authenticity but a gentlemen who I spoke to at the car show assured me it was all original.
