Interesting story while we are on the NASCAR subject: When I had my 1960 Catalina for sale I received a phone call from a fellow with a very strong southern accent. He wanted to buy my car and convert it to a clone of "the car I won the 1961 Daytona in". Yes, it was Marvin Paunch, the guy who won Dayton in a Smokey Yunick built 1960 Pontiac. Unfortunately we couldn't agree on a price. He really only wanted a rust free shell and this car was too nice to gut out in my opinion. I see he must have found one as just the other day I saw him on TV and there was a perfect replica of his winning car.

you had a car like this? where why how come you talked to Marvin wow
I posted a pic on another forum. Here it is again (in stock form, NOT stock car form..I couldn't bear to see it get stripped and caged...but then again money would have talked!)
She had 59000 original miles. The paint was original. I tracked down the original owner (Burl Sprinkle!) in Texas and had quite a long conversation with him about the car. There was a lot of scribbles on the owners manual. Turns out his wife would give the owners manual to their young son (at the time) with a pencil to keep him quiet! I have other photos which I will scan and post. I put poverty caps on it and had a correct tri power intake (the carbs for Pontiac tri powers are VERY hard to find). I even found a NOS set of Hedman headers with exhaust cutouts! I miss that car! Todd

Oh...it sold for A LOT LESS... Wait till you see the other photos.... your eyes will well up.. The bills were stacking up, wife #1 hated the car... wife #1 hated the car. Did I mention wife #1 hated the car? I still remember the ONLY time she went for a ride with me she said "Pull over, I want to drive".. It had standard steering and brakes... The "test drive" lasted 2 minutes and I aged 20 years...
CLICK!! did you hear that? after seeing THAT car , I locked the door, to my garage..we are not coming out...... beautifull car.... did I say beautifull car...
