RE: 65 Acadian Beaumont Interior

hi guys.. I just had my 65 SD interior re-done and the fellow that did it actually saved my original center sections and replaced the material everywhere else that needed it. I had sun bleached and cracked top portions on both the front buckets, and the rear seat. They're done and they look great. I'll take a picture or 2 to show. I do need to take them in for a dye job to match the new material, but that is little to no real effort.
So.. with that being said.. if you have a pontiac kit... you may be able to get some of the same material sent with it and have the center panel changed by an interior company.. as always.. that's more money.. but we ALL seem to love our "money pits"

hope this helps in some way

Kelly Coe

Here's a couple of photos..  Sorry things didnt work out Bud.. I was looking forward to seeing them as well..
as you can see (maybe) in the photos of the buckets.. the dye has been worn away a fair bit.. but is re-dyeable for sure.

Kelly

Hey Kelly
Great idea! I may try that avenue now myself. I will likely still order the Legendary kit as I really like the quality, and look into swaping those centers.
Hows the car doing? I just remembered I was supposed to take a picture for you.....still need it?
Take care
Bud

Looking for advice guys.. I have my blue interior, as seen above, and the accent color is dark blue of course. My package tray was destroyed when I got the car so all I had was a 2" pc of material as a sample, and it was dark blue... now I've asked around a bit and found that the package tray may have been light blue.. Can anyone advise me on this? the interior shop has already dyed the tray the light blue by accident, and now I'm wondering if they should fix it or leave it.

thank you

Kelly

I thought it was in my parts manual but it only goes back to 1966. If someone has an earlier manual they might be able to check. The package tray is listed in Group 15.024
I think the package tray would look better in the light blue as they have it sprayed. If you put it in and don't think it looks correct then you could have it sprayed the darker colour. Maybe in the mean time someone else may have some info.

I wish I was restoring a convertible. The car in the photo is my old car.   I sold it about 8 yrs ago.. now I'm looking for another one.  This car I'm working on was a bit of a basket case that was given to me.
And the package tray DID end up staying the light blue to match the seats. it looks good..  so does the vinyl trim for the windows.. it all turned out really nice.  I just picked up the kick panels, dash, rear seat, package tray, front door panels, and window trim today..

Some guys are just plain greedy!

Nice problem to have.

I'm not gonna ask about it because I DON'T need another project.

Notice I haven't asked yet? Pretty good willpower, eh?

Shed is full, wallet is empty, no sense looking in the "for sale" section here anyway. Well, maybe just a peek.......
