The car I learned to drive in

I thought I'd start things off in here by posting one of the few photos of the car I learned to drive in. It was my parents 1977 Lemans Sport Coupe- the car that replaced the 69 Strato Chief. It was a pretty sporty car with those stripes, rally wheels and window louvers. The interior consisted of bucket seats with centre console. Options were few- 350/4bbl Chevy engine, auto trans, power steering/brakes and AM/FM/8 Track player. I got my license in 1984 and I could be found cruising around London on Friday and Saturday nights with my buddies blaring the tunes (I swapped in a cassette deck...).
The car was last seen in 2002. We sold the car to a local kid. From what I hear, he destroyed it. Perhaps someday I'll buy one like it and park it next to my '69. Here is a pic:

Excellent car. We had a 76 Grand LeMans, a cross between a Grand Am on the interior and Luxury LeMans outside. It had Rally's, Landau roof, Butternut with Tan. Used to get pulled over all the time, "Nice Car kid, who's is it?" was usually the drill. I'll have to scan an old photo and put it up too. It was a Chevy 350 2bbl. Cat Converter clogged up on Hwy 69 one Sunday night coming home from the cottage. It was never the same after that. Dad traded it on an 1980 Grand Prix W37 optioned car. I loved them both.

learned to drive this 67 beaumont wagon when i was 12, during our weekly spins up to the dump to get rid of renovation material. once we got of the main road i would get the helm. i don't think i ever drove a car till i was 16 without a trailer on the back. this pict was taken when we went to visit my grandparents up near ottawa. dad and i split the driving from brandon. i'm thinking i was 14 when this pict was taken. the tall one is me

That's the car I learned on! Same darn colour, we had duals on a Chevy 350 2bbl, option code N10. I would always flip the Air Cleaner lid then go ouy hunting for a race. It was a pretty fast car, my buddy's dad had a 74 Cutlass Rocket 350 4bbl and the LeMans could always stand it down. P'd him off to this day! We had a split bench tan with fold down armrest, 3 speed auto. Man do you know how much that NOS stripe kit goes for now.

I will also say that those vintage pictures are the best, real pieces of history. Thanks to both Stepenzone and 427carl for sharing those gems! I'm searching for some vintage shots, there has to be one of me going to the prom in that 73 burnt orange LeMans!

I remember wanting to put duals on the LeMans but dad wouldn't let me. Somehow, the cat "fell off" though...

Nope, wouldn't void the warranty. Now, if the car was required to have an Etest, it wouldn't make it to the dyno.
