Newbie with 1960 Strato-Chief

Hi everybody

We (me and my wife) have a 1960 Pontiac Strato-Chief 4d Sedan under renovation. It has a 261 Strato-Six and three-on-a-tree.

Pontiac has been part of our family over 24 years and now is the time for a complete restoration,

Here is a picture of the car before the frame-off restoration started:

Even though the car looks nice on the outside, it has a lot of bodywork to be done!

Our Pontiac has been in Canadian embassy at Moscow 1960-1963 and came to Finland 1963 We are 3rd. owners after that.

Best regards,

Matti & Outi,
Finland

THe first "AUTOMATIC"  car I ever drove was a Bat roof  61 Strato Chief 4 door .. It would almost do 90 MILES PER HOUR...biggrin    I watched my Dad restore the floor with tin snipes, pop rivets, sheet metal, and TAR!  My Dad ran 2 for $25.00 winter retreads in the rear ..  Wish he was here now to see my carcry   Kudos to you for restoring the family car    more history saved....

I can't say how many were made (perhaps GM of Canada Vintage Vehicle services could help you with that) however I can tell you this much:
You car is model number 7119
They cost CDN $2905 when new (base model)
They weigh 3770lbs
Serial numbers for your model and body style start at 0711900001 so if you look at your SN, you can determine how far along in production your car was built.

Thanks, our Strato's serial is 0711909401

Here is the oldest known photo of our Pontiac. It was taken in February 1965

That makes your Strato the 9400th of that body style off the line.
