Speedometer

Recently while driving my 65 BeauCamino the speedo went nuts and emitted a weird buzzing noise. The red needle then fell out. Returning home the centre piece that holds the needle fell out.

Ever happen to you? Can I just rebuild the old speedo or should I get a new one?

How fast were you and the BeauCamino going? .....Don't answer that.

This has never happened to me but I have to think that it can't be good. Eventually you will have to pull it out and see what is wrong. The quickest, easiest and most economical thing to do would be to get another speedo unit. Even if you get one with poor screening you could always swap the odometer unit into the existing speedo face. Then you can re-assemble the dash again, same day, and keep on cruising.

I had the same thing happen to me last summer.  I sent the head to these people and they fixed the needle, and cleaned and lubricated the mechanism.  Works like new now.
