how many beaumonts left

it always amazes when i see a new beaumont,i know in 69 there were about 12000 or so built,68 about 15000,i heard in total a little over 50000,we always see more coming out of the woodwork.my cougar totalled 60000 in 1970 and i only seen 2 others in my travels,i think steve stated once he has never seen so many beaumont than he has in our area, maybe oshawa being in southern ontario might help, whats the old rule 10 percent is the average for old cars remaining.maybe people kept them, the 68 and 69 2 door hardtop was popularand sold better, maybe people held on to them.whats your guess on whats left and what areas seem to have more.

I keep a list everytime a see a 64 thru 69 beaumont in Manitoba.  Crushed, parts, mint restos, projects, drivers, any and all i come across.
Over 230 cars on my list.  67's seem to be the most plentiful
31  64s
29  65s
37  66s
82  67s
33  68s
24  69s
Over the past 10 years or so.

I think the Beaumont is a source of pride among Canadians and a unique car among Americans. It makes the cars collectable. Cars that might have gone to the crusher now end up saved. I never considered the Beaumont to be a rare car growing up because they were plentiful here in Toronto, which as you say may be a Southern Ontario phenomena, shear population. You can be pretty certain that when you go to a cruise here in Southern Ontario you will see one.

To the above point my Pontaic is in a run of 3,761 and I have only ever seen one in the last 5 years. We parked beside each other and created quite the stir that night at Richmond Hill.

If I remember correctly, there were about 74,000 Beaumonts built. The estimates I have heard are about 10-15% are left. I would say that is probably pretty accurate.

Not sure what the original production numbers are for Beaumonts over their eight year run as an automobile model. That's one of the reasons why I started to document all the cars I find/hear about or see. That's also my I've asked those owners present on this site to assist me by sending me any VIN's and cowl tag information they have for running. parts cars or junkers that they see.

Is James right with his estimate of ten to fifteen percent of the original proudction still left as examples of the make, not sure. His numbers sound like they could be in the ball park, then again the number might be twenty five percent or higher.

The only rall way to know for sure would be to get in CPIC and ask the question.

Dave

I hope to carry my camera with me this summer if I go to any yards or car shows. That way I can hopefully aid your efforts.
