Dear fellow Enthusiasts,

My post was intended to shed some light on the subject of Beaumonts and Acadians.   I agree in their short run as a production automobile the Acadian and the Beaumont never stated, or had any emblems that said Pontiac.

As an old car hobbist and a proud Canadian flag waver I've been researching these cars to tell the story of their brief time on this planet.   As I stated in my post it wasn't "gospell" or confirmed by GM of Canada.   I was making an observation based on research and the divisional numbering used by General Motors to identify its member divisions.

I also have to agree from the earliest model's '62 to '64 the model series was known as the 8000 line.  Why is that, don't know would love to talk to someone at GM of Canada and find out though. 

Someone and I'm sorry I don't remember who posted information that the number 7 came into existance in 1958.   Could it be that the 7 could be for 7000 series (full size passenger cars) and the 8000 series was used to denote (compact and intermediate car lines).   Not sure but it sounds reasonable.

I didn't think my post would start a flurry of heated posts and threats to leave the site.   I acknowledge that Acadians and Beaumonts are Canadian only cars. Its a fact that they could only be purchased via a Canadian Pontiac dealer.   It also a fact that they share some Pontiac traits the most obvious is the split grille design.

Do they say Pontiac on them No they don't.  Does their emblem resemble the Pontiac trademark yes it does.   Do I think we need to "draw a line in the sand" and pick which side of this debate we're going to "fight to the death" on, No I don't.

The Acadian and Beaumonts are unique cars to a time and place in Canadian history, when we had a distinct and different culture from that below the forty-ninth parrallel.   Henry and other disagree with my post, that's fine I can respect the comments they've made and move on.

I'm not disagreeing with Henry and the others nor am I trying to get them to see my point of view and agree with me.   I've become involved with this site to discuss and talk about Canadian Pontiacs, period.   Acadians and Beaumonts are included in this site as I feel they should be.   If you didn't include them then we're being elitests and not acknowledging the history of their contribution to GM of Canada.  

I don't know why we have to "pigeon hole" everything in this hobby.   It sort of feels like the BS I see other car clubs/owners of particular marques where "if your not an owner of a certain model year of that make then I'm not going to talk to you" - even though you both own models of the same make of car but they happen to be from different model years and generations.

Again my apologies for the "fire storm" of controversy my post inflicted on this site.   I didn't do it to stir up resentment or ill feelings.   It won't happen again, I hope.
